O.K.

New WiFi Dongle fitted - Password works O.K. now!

I have been using the Old WiFi dongle for over a year with no problems apart from the password issue.

Just shows not all devices are created equal.

Hi Admin,

It is a home built but has the later Raspberry PI and the latest Radio bridge.

Tried with my iPhone, O.K. no Password, Says incorrect password if password set and will not connect.

System works and has been working for over a year with no password.

If I am the only user with this problem it must be a hardware problem, Raspberry PI, Radio Bridge or WiFi Dongle.

I have ordered another WiFi dongle, being the cheapest item.

Hello JCurtis,

None of my devices connect to the PAW hotspot with the password set, they can all see it and try to connect, but fail.

Anybody know how the password function works. Is the password stored in the PAW somewhere or is it stored in the WiFi dongle.

Could the problem be the WiFi dongle and not the PAW Software or Hardware?

If it could be the WiFi dongle I will buy another one, but do not want to if that is not the problem.

Hello Admin,

No special characters letters and numbers only.

Did not work when password set to 12345678.

Am I missing something?

I log into Network page, Enter a password in the password box.

Click "Apply" Click "Reboot" Click O.K.

Delete the PAW WiFi from my Hudle.

When it comes back up, Select the PAW WiFi enter the new password and it fails to connect.

Looked at the latest instructions, no step by step idiots guide to setting a password.

System is up and running now with no password set.

If someone can tell me what I am missing I will try again.

O.K. Lee,

Bit further forward.

I plugged in the ethernet cable. Used Angry IP scanner to find the IP Address.
Now successfully gained access via my Windows Laptop to the PAW on its assigned IP Address.
Check Network settings, the password I put in is displayed correctly- Mode is B channel 9.
Changed password to 12345678 and clicked "Apply" Press "Reboot" and "O.K."
Disconnect Power, Ethernet, Reconnect power.
Still cannot access via WiFi.
Reconnect and view on Laptop, Password is 12345678 Mode B channel 9!
Remove password and clicked "Apply" Press "Reboot" and "O.K."

Hudle now connects O.K.

I must be missing a step somewhere but no idea why I cannot get a password to work.

Thank you for the response Lee.

Tried my Iphone - Keeps failing to connect with "incorrect password"?? Tried with initial letter normal or capital.

Tried four devices now, Laptop Windows 10, Laptop Linux Mint, Hudle Android, Iphone nothing connects.

All the lights on the PAW operating correctly.

So no further forward.

On a scale of 1 to 10 my  computer knowledge is about level 3.

I do not understand how setting my password fails every time but when you test it on your system it works fine.

I know I am getting on a bit but my password works on many web sites including this one.

Looks like I will have to reload the software and forget trying to set a password.

My windows 10 computer might not be able to use the WPA security.
It uses WPA2 on my home router.
My Hudle tablet also uses WPA2 on my home router.

Is that the problem? Cannot find a way to change the security from WPA2 to WPA on either device.

Will have to do a manual reload again and not use the password facility unless PAW can be configured to use WPA2.

Update 27/7/2017. Latest software loaded O.K. Thought I would try password facility again. IT DOES NOT WORK AGAIN. refuses to connect. Does anybody use this facility?

I did save the password. Have tried power off PAW, wait 30 seconds, power on.

Whilst power was off deleted connection on my Hudle,(Android tablet).

Still can not connect to the PAW???

Update problem resolved.

Need to ensure PAW is using Dynamic not Static IP address. Can you add this in the update section of the operating instructions please?

O.K. Thank you,

Problem was IP address set to static.

Changed it to Dynamic. Updating now.

Never had to do that before.

The operating instructions may say somewhere to change to Dynamic, but not in the software update section?

Great system, great help forum. Thanks.

Hello Lee,

Thank you for the response.

I had tried with and without the WiFi dongle. Not Worked?

My router is on 192.168.2.1 so should not be a problem.

The operating instructions have several procedures but I am only interested in using the automatic one.

Did not have to remove dongles for the last update.

Will try again later.

Can you reinstate the automatic update procedure please?
I do not want to mess about changing dongles or updating SD cards.
Tried automatic update today, does not work now.
