General Discussion / Re: New user from FRANCE
« on: March 14, 2021, 09:08:32 am »
I'm a French user since the beginning of PilotAware (when it was do it yourself, I might still have the parts somewhere).
The system is installed in a Vans RV-7 with external antennas.

I have PAW since the first DIY model and this is by far the easiest update I made so far.
It lasted a mere five minutes via the Ipad app.
Good job everybody.

I never got the email, but I renewed the licence as soon as I got home.
I’m good for the next twelve month.

General Discussion / Licence renewal
« on: May 24, 2020, 05:53:19 pm »
Hello,

today I had the no so pleasant experience while sitting in my plane and trying to connect to Pilotaware to see that my licence was expired.
Would it be possible to get an email 2 or 3 week before expiry ?  (I checked my spam folder and found nothing).
Even better would be the possibility to opt for automatic renewal before expiry.

Or have I missed something ?

Regards
Pascal

Technical Support / Re: More false warnings

I get those too, they disappear and appear at random.
As I fly a quite fast aircraft (Vans RV7, about 150 kts in cruise) that looks like a plausible explanation.
Will test by flying slower if I get to fly before the next release.

Licence installed , WIFI connected, traffic seen in Skydemon.

Well the board is printed with that information : Raspberry Pi 2 Model B V 1.1 and it is not working.
I bought it on Ebay from some seller in China it could be fake or low quality!!!

Hello,

I received a new Raspberry Pi and the wifi is connecting flawlessly with that new board.
The two Pi's look almost exactly the same but further investigation showed that the first board is marked : Raspberry Pi 2 model B V 1.1 as the other is marked  Raspberry Pi 2 model B+ version 1.2.
I thought Pi2's were all the same and there was only a difference in PI1 between B and B+.

I'll ask for the licence in the correct thread.

General Discussion / Re: WiFi Dongle issues - Massive Current spike

I changed the setting in config.txt to "max_usb_current=1" but there was no change in the performance of my dongles, they still fail.
May be there is another setting I don't have access to.
I will receive one of the dongles supposed to work during the week.
Regards.

I am unable to connect to 192.168.1.1 as my mobile device is not connected at all to the hotspot.
When using my Android phone I get stuck on "looking for IP" when trying to connect to the hotspot which tels a bit more than my IPad just waiting for connection and in the end showing no connection on an 169. range IP.
Hope this helps.

Some more tests on my side with latest release
- some times (1 boot out of two or three), I see the hotspot on my IPad or PC but unable to connect ( IP is 169.254.184.40)
- some times the licences fail message keeps coming with the correct MAC address and then there are times when the MAC address returns to 000000000000000.

I will do more tests with the new dongle I shall receive midweek.

I have similar problems :
- boot text shows RT5390 and RT5370 detection
- the boot goes till the License fail message (which is normal I think as I have no license)
- after some iteration, the license fail message switches from the normal address of the dongle to a 00:00:00:00:00 address
- if I use an EDIMAX dongle, boot fails at the login prompt.

I ordered another dongle to see if I can get the hotspot up and running, maybe not all RT3570 dongles are adapted to this project.
