Technical Support / Downgrade to 20180520
« on: October 04, 2019, 09:47:02 am »
At the airfield yesterday I met two Pilotaware users who had both downgraded from 20190621 because they had convinced themselves that they were not seeing transponder aircraft in the vicinity of the airfield. I regret I am unable to provide any detailed information to support their belief.
It doesn't seem logical that the 2019 upgrade should, in some way, restrict visibility of aircraft.
Are there any reasons why this should be the case apart from Setting in Configure?
Have any other users taken the same path?

You are in good company. I did exactly the same and was initially convinced it was missing.
I think an update to the user manual will be very helpful to others.

I went to the 'Configure' tab on the browser. Part way down, there is a line that reads Test/BT/Volume.
I clicked on 'BT' and it opened a page that enabled me to pair Rosetta with my bluetooth headphones. Then went back to the Configure page and clicked on 'Test' and received the PAW message to my headphones.

Technical Support / Re: Rosetta stops working when in flight

Hi Lee,

Thanks for your post. On my last flight it powered up and worked perfectly at the start, but failed to work following a lunch stop with the aircraft sitting on the ground with the Rosetta remaining on the dash. In the very bright conditions, with a need to get on with departure it is not easy to try and look at the LEDs.
Am planning to fly again this Thursday, so will try and take more careful note.

Technical Support / Rosetta stops working when in flight
« on: July 18, 2019, 10:38:49 am »
I have a Rosetta unit with recommended Anker power supply, utilising the power lead supplied.
When I set the unit up in my ofice at home, it works perfectly with the wifi, no matter how many times I stop and re-start it.
When in flight, it only works intermittently. As part of the elimination process, I have used a different power supply and a different power lead with the same intermittent results.
I am wondering if the issue might be related to the vibration in the aircraft or the temperature on the top of the dash in the cockpit.
It will be interesting to know if other users have had a similar experience.

I have recently completed the upgrade to my Rosetta unit. I decided to re-use my existing SD card, so copied the old software contents onto a hard disk back up as a precaution. Then carefully followed the procedure set out on https://pilotaware.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/160901-Manual-Software-Upgrade-1.pdf Then inserted the SD card into Rosetta and waited. Even having left it for several hours, Pilot Aware did not show on my list of wifi points.
Then removed the SD card completely re-formatted it again (per the instructions) copied the new software onto it again. Also took the precaution of cleaning the contacts on the SD card. Installed the SD card into Rosetta and powered up. It then started, the wifi network became visible and everything is working well. Took it flying this morning without any problems.
