Hi Dave. Are you powering your Aircrew through the PAW? I would not reccomend that as the Pi is very sensitive to power upsets and the Aircrew could tip it over the edge.

I connect my Aircrew to the PAW using WiFi and each is fed power from a dedicated battery pack

You will need one data wire and one of the following:
Each unit must be wired to the aircraft ground
or
There must also be a second wire between each units ground.

It is usual to avoid earth loops (applying both the above). I suspect one unit will be grounded (AVMAP) and the other (BK Cruze) will get its ground from the grounded unit, hence two wires. If each unit is earthed, take the earth wire all the way to the common earth busbar, and not lash it under the nearest bolt on the airframe (IIRC the CTSW is GRP so you wont be able to use the airframe as a return wire anyway)

Some installation guides omit earth and power feeds to make the diagram clearer, but there is usually a comment somewhere. Without the full set of wiring diagrams ans manuals it is difficult to advise further.

Is it possible to buy that case on it's own? Mine is an upgraded classic, and only has four fittings for the suckers close to the 3/8" camera mount. Not ideal

You can pop a USB GS into a spare port for testing (with a clear view of the sky). Perhaps you still have the supplied one?

Dos anyone have a raccomended USB to RS232 cable to use with a Funke TRT800H, available on Amazon?

The cable you want is USB-RS232-WE-1800-BT_0.0. I can only find one seller on Amazon and they are double the usual price! There are similar sounding cables all over the internet, but have heard that they are not always what you expect.
I would recommend buying for one of the reputable name like RS, Farnell etc. The cheaper cable may work, but I cannot guarantee they will.

Hi Mike,
Yes, set it to Funke Transponder.

The USB Ports on the PAW Classic and Rosetta are numbered.....

Ethernet    Port 1    Port 3
Ethernet    Port 2    Port 4

Note that Funke transponders may need firmware updates to function correctly
