Ok, reinstalled on a new SD card.
I now have ...
Kernel 4.9.35-v7+
PAW Version 20170721
Looking at the network info under the newly setup PAW network, it is still showing 192.168.1.1 as the router. Attempting to connect to my iPhone hotspot via Bluetooth, it attaches but seems not to want to communicate out that route, presumably because the iPad thinks the PAW is the router, and the connection shows 'no internet connection' again indicating it believes the wifi network is the gateway.
So, complete new PAW image, new network setup ... doesn't appear to work as expected...??
Edit, scrub that, just done an iPad reboot and it now does appear to connect happily via my BLuetooth hotspot ...

Lee, it was one of your first commercially produced 'kits' with the replacement P3i radio and Baro board.
To be honest I cannot recall the 1st installed version as that was over a year ago ... as i say, because the Pup has been Tech since last November for various reasons (plus having the 8.33khz radio fitted) I have been almost fully out of the loop for 9 months and it seems things have moved on a fair bit - not least I had to renew PAW license and my SD subscriptions too 😳
Only just got back in from being called in to work so I'll have a look at rebuilding an SD card later....

I 'think' it's on Kernel 3.something ... isn't that updated with the USB update then?
Sorry, I've not been following any of this since the autumn last year, only managed to pull the PAW out of the aircraft on Friday after our extended flight test, updated my expired license on the thing and attempted to do a network update which didn't work, so have had to try and find the alternative update info.
I assumed I didn't need to do a full SD format and copy, but are you suggesting that is what I need to do to get to the latest kernel version or should it have updated by the USB update?

Been out of the loop since last November due to having a u/s aircraft and work commitments. But today, updated my license key, and updated the software.
I read that there is supposed to be a facility where the PAW doesn't advertise as a router but can't see how this is configured and looking at the Wifi setting on my iPad, it appears to still be saying the router is the PAW 192.168.1.1 which also seems to stop my using Bluetooth to connect to my iPhone hotspot.
Sorry if this has been dealt with before but can't see anything obvious.

In case anyone is interested, the P3i Dipole which is supplied by Pilotawarehardware is also as good if not better than the antenna supplied for the ADS/B (DVB-T) dongle. Depending on how these are positioned could take out the angst of where to site the antenna and actually which antenna goes where. For me now, it matters not which antenna I plug into which socket if we take the PAW out of the aircraft.
On the Pup I have the dipoles on suction mounts high up either side of the windshield out of line of vision, with the cables suckered and then tucked around the coaming. The case for my PAW has been modified as per my original 'beta' version with a right-angle MCX to SMA pigtail through the case and out at the end where the P3i antenna is. GPS is on a Mouse and the PAW is attached to the lower door pillar with Velcro so is out of the sun.
On ADS/B I can see traffic across pretty much the whole of England, across to Southern Ireland so the antenna works perfectly.
Sorry can't post a pic as the PAW is in the aircraft.

I had similar issues with the password not 'saving'. Perhaps there needs to be a <save> button on the page and the restart to then make the settings active.

Any chance you can get a similar antenna option tuned to 1090MHz for the ADS-B Rx to replace that nasty supplied mag base whip?
I do have a range of different end fed stubby antennae but these are tuned for 3G/LTE and whilst work show a fair bit of attenuation because they are out of band by a couple of hundred MHz.

My PAW arrived this morning so after setting up with the supplied Ublox GPS (which did get its sats relatively quickly but maxed out at 
I swapped it out for the 'generic Mouse type' which required the USB port setting to Serial and at 9600bps.
Considering I haven't used this GPS for a few months, it started up and got a lock immediately, and is claiming 14 sats received.
Think I will use this ILO the Ublox type supplied as it can be stuck on the glareshield with the supplied 3M pad and it's one less thing sticking out of the side, especially as I'm considering remote mounting the PAW box in the passenger footwell. Just need to sort out an extension and position for the antenna now.

Yes, we did this in beta testing. Though there were a couple of 'experts' who doubted the validity of cutting the whip to the correct length/frequency 
However, I found I really didn't want to see traffic as far away as Liverpool (from Bristol) so I bought a Siretta 'cellular' stubby 1/4 wave in SMA and mounted this via a pigtail on the case and it gave enough attenuation to get traffic within a reasonable radius. I will be doing exactly the same with the 'new' classic when it arrives as the supplied antenna a) has a magnet in and b) is pretty poor quality.
I tested a fair few specialist and tuned antennae both on the ARF and the SDR dongle, and because of limited clearance and space on the coaming of my Pup, I'll not be using the supplied antennae.

Hmmm, I 'invested' in 2 RPi's, several different GPS's, 2 ARF's, various methods of interfacing the ARF's, many different sorts of antennae, baro modules and a fair bit of time and some flying hours ... In beta testing.
I missed the boat on the initial release even though as soon as I received the email saying the product was on the store I logged on only to find all had sold out.
I bought a full price forward order and am still awaiting delivery.
Now, whilst I COULD send in my old ARF's to get a rebate, and I COULD as a beta tester get a free license, I decided that the project was worth paying the full amount for, so I haven't.
My only gripe is this. I feel those beta testers who put a fair amount of time and investment (parts, airborne time etc) in should have been given the chance to get a 'pre-release' kit in a similar way to Kickstarter projects before general release. It IS a bit galling that clearly people who have done no 'work' for the project (i.e. clearly, by reading the 'help me out' posts) have their kits whilst some of us who were involved early on are still waiting. The first tranche should have gone out to those of us who helped get the project going.
I can only hope that the production PAW does what it is supposed to, after being one of those testers who did a fair bit with the ARF and finding it hugely lacking, certainly in the type of all metal aircraft I own.

I did comparative testing between the Ublox7 dongle and an MTK chipset 'mouse type' and the MTK mouse GPS was by far and away the better GPS in acquisition time from cold & warm and also had zero dropouts unlike the Ublox dongle. I am also not a fan of things sticking out of sockets, especially as USB isn't terribly robust and real estate on top of the coaming in my Pup is somewhat tight due to the rake of the screen.
Lee did a fair bit of work to get the generic type GPS working as there were initially a few issues as the software had originally been coded around the Ublox dongle, but certainly when I dropped out of beta testing it was working perfectly. Whether every type of GPS will work though, only time and testing will tell.

When I was beta testing, I bought one of the Ublox7 dongles and it was never terribly reliable. I had dialogue with Lee about it and elected to use a different 'mouse type' GPS/GLONASS GPS that was on the end of a cable rather than a dongle.
I dismantled the dongle and I believe(d) there was an issue with the 'antenna' in the dongle; it certainly wasn't terribly well manufactured and I attempted a repair on the antenna and it did improve matters a bit but it was never a patch on either the in-built GPS in the iPad, my Bad Elf or the cheap Chinese 'mouse type' GPS that I eventually used for all PAW testing.
There was a belief that perhaps not all of the UBLOX7 GPS dongles were all the same, made by different manufacturers but they all look externally alike.
Cannot comment about those supplied with the new kit as mine hasn't arrived yet, but I am hoping my old GPS Mouse will still work as I didn't want to rely on the UBLOX dongle

They missed a trick with this one by not putting the USB out on standard 4-pin PCB headers, adapted by cables. Going to need a micro hub to run the USB devices as far as I can see...

The MTK chipped GPS has an almost instantaneous startup, position fix is spot on, as is 'direction'. Whereas the uBlox7 dongle can sometimes take 5 minutes to come up on a cold start and sometimes goes in and out of GPS lock several times before it becomes reliable. It also has a tendency to 'wander' in both position and direction, and often shows a groundspeed (albeit very low) when the thing is just sitting there.
Given a choice, I'll use the MTK chipset G-Mouse as it appears to be 100% reliable both on the ground and in the air, and is easier to position for a sky view - and is unlikely to get knocked out or be shielded by the roof on my all-metal aircraft.
