Technical Support / Re: Samsung Galaxy One UI 6.1 Update woes
« on: September 19, 2024, 08:09:49 am »
Hi Vic, I  did two flights of over an hour each yesterday, without a problem. I did have one dropout either way, but only for about 15 seconds each, and this is not unusual, in fact less than I have experienced on earlier flights. As you said, the wifi was set to DHCP, and I didn't change it.
I'm sorry this doesn't help you to get to the bottom of why the problem happened to you, but at least you have found a work around that resolves it, and your post will help others who may experience something similar.
Cheers

That's interesting  Vic, I have the same tablet, and the same software revisions. I hope to fly tomorrow,  so I'll let you know if I experience the same problem , and i will try your fix if I do.

Technical Support / Re: Track files upload

The last time this problem occurred,  I contacted James Rose, (the original Playback author), who fixed it. I seem to recall he said the problem was with a restrictive file upload size limitation on the Server. Once this was increased/removed, Playback worked fine. Worth checking the current setting ?

Thanks to James Rose (ex of aircrew) https://playback.pilotaware.com/playback/ is now back up and running.

Thanks James !

It appears the Playback program is having problems again.
After chosing a file, and uploading it, it sticks at 100%, and doesn't run the track replay.

I'm just bumping this in the hope that the Playback option will be repaired soon.

Hi Steve, I had tried that site (and just tried again), but i couldn't get it to work with a PAW .trk file, it returns "No valid GPS Data detected", whichever output option is chosen.

Sadly https://playback.pilotaware.com/playback/ is still not getting past the upload phase, to display the track, on any of my devices......

Thanks SGS66, but the problem with that approach is that Flysto only displays traffic transmitting ADSB. the PAW Track files include much more traffic information. What would be nice is for someone with better PERL skills than I possess to expand on the excellent work Richard Hines has started here

http://forum.pilotaware.com/index.php/topic,1574.msg17338.html#msg17338

and create a KML file with all the traffic captured by PAW, so it can be imported into Goggle Earth or Flysto to give a fuller picture.

Hi Peter,

I think I may have found the cause. It appears that Malwarebytes that I use on my PCs is the problem.  If I enter the IP address in the MB exceptions (not the URL as first requested), then Playback runs OK. I can't say that there is no problem with the site, but I have found MB to be over protective with other sites ( I.e. the Matronics Forum).

This started as I wanted to compare Playback to Flysto.net Early indications are that Playback appears to shows more traffic, as flysto only appears to show ADSB traffic. So far, I have been using the kml files from Skydemon, but I would like to use the PAW trk files.

It's been interesting trying to find a way to convert the PAW trk files into kml, as required by flysto. I'm trying to use the technique suggested by Richard Hine in this thread

http://forum.pilotaware.com/index.php/topic,1574.msg17338.html#msg17338

but as I'm not familiar with Perl, I'm finding it challenging  at the moment

Hi Again Bob,

Playback sites are both back up again now!

Regards

Peter

Hi Peter,

I may have "liked" too soon ! This is wierd, the link works on my Android Tablet and Phone, but not on Chrome on my Windows 10 PC. I have tried clearing the cache to no avail, and also tried Microsoft Edge and Avast Browser with the same result. The full error messageon all three browsers is:

This site can’t provide a secure connection
playback.pilotaware.com sent an invalid response.
Try running Windows Network Diagnostics.
ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR

Cheers
Bob

The response from this link is:

Is there a problem with the site ? Shame, as it is a useful tool.

I ipdated the software to the latest version (20230316) and had three separate flights yesterday. No problems,  so it looks like the update has done the trick. Thanks Peter.

Hi Peter,
Thanks for the response. I was under the mistaken impression that my software was up yo date, but following your suggestion,  I've just downloaded the latest version.  I'll be flying tomorrow or Friday, so I'll report back after that.
Cheers

After a  medical grounding for 6 months, I started flying again this week, and have the same issue that RussP had reported, intermittent  Traffic Fail messages on my Skyview. Annoying, nagging warning mesages (both audio and visual) are produced. Primary display of contacts on SkyDemon is not affected.  I am using  version 20220805.

Was a solution to the problem found ?

Like you, I suspect only the Rx and ground connection is used, but I don't see any  downside in connecting  both the Tx and Rx wires, as  if ever the PAW becomes capable  of using one USB for both Rx/Tx, you can " save" a USB port for another use.

I considered going firbthe Dyjon GPS input after RussP explained the procedure  in the 6th post down of this thread

http://forum.pilotaware.com/index.php/topic,1765.msg23431.html#msg23431

but in the end continued to use the PAW mouse for GPS, as having both the PAW GPS and the Dynon GPS into separate devices gave me a level of redundancy  I was happier with.
