Technical Support / Re: Problem with Radar on Samsung Galaxy GT-N7000
« on: October 24, 2017, 12:26:31 pm »
Thanks to Lee & Paul. Installed Chrome on Galaxy Note and radar now works fine.

No problem with space available although the controls, H+/- & V+/- are quite large. They are easily operated however but I wonder if they can be scaled down in relation to the radar display itself ?

Also, is it possible at the moment to alter the horizontal units from km to nm which would be more useful and avoid confusion with differing units ?

Thx
Chris

Hi Lee - running ver. 20170721 on the PAW - however the browser is a little more problematic. It is simply called 'Internet' and has a world icon. However, on doing a little research and looking up the app details in the browser - settings - advanced - it gives me the following info: Internet Version 4.1.2- N7000XXLT9. This seems to be the android version I am running with the Galaxy Note model number in the suffix. Is it some sort of Android 'onboard' browser which a little research on google seems to indicate it might be ? If the version of the software I am running is OK - would it help if I installed a different browser app ?
Thx
Chris

Technical Support / Problem with Radar on Samsung Galaxy GT-N7000
« on: October 23, 2017, 02:59:42 pm »
I run Sky Demon on a Samsung Galaxy Note (Original) GT-N7000 running Android 4.1.2 and have no problem integrating PAW onto the display. However, I cannot get the Radar Display to show correctly. See photo attached. I have 2 PAW units running the latest software and neither will display the Radar screen correctly. I also have an iPad Mini on which the Radar displays correctly from both PAW units. Any help or direction would be appreciated.

General Discussion / Re: Stratux Case
« on: October 11, 2017, 07:19:07 pm »
No it needs to go on top of the chip nearest the USB plug, I cut a PI heatsink in half and seems to fit ok.

Have also re-engineered my original PAW into the Stratux case, along the same lines as Ian M (2/6/17) with antenna at either end and all working OK. However, would like to add a heat sink to the 1090 dongle and wondered if it was the chip closest to the USB plug that was generating the heat or the black encapsulated component that was initially folded over to fit under the cover?

Has anyone managed to refit the cooling fan that had to be removed (and it's clips) to facilitate the radio bridge? If so, where have they managed to fit it in and how has it been powered, given that the 40 pin connector is now fully occupied by the radio bridge?

Thanks for that info. Looks like the made up lead is the way to go. Pete also provided good info following a PM. Can now make progress and look forward to the new RF module etc. Hopefully, will post when the ADSB out is up and running.

Thanks for that. Have already acquired a UGREEN USB to RS232 DB9 Serial Adaptor Cable via eBay (with Prolific PL2303 Chipset) but the circuitry appears to be integral with the DB9 connector. However, according to the TT31 installation manual there are 2 connectors on the back of the TT31. Both Molex edge connectors, one with 24 contacts and the other with 12 contacts. Both appear to have RS232 dedicated pins. I think that the 24pin connector is already in use, with presumably only some of the pins connected, but as I recall, the 12pin connector is not used at present. This is termed the Secondary Interface. Can you advise what pins need to be connected to facilitate the ADSB Out ? Also, do I have to cannibalise the DB9  or just find or fabricate a DB9 to Molex 12 Pin edge connector ??

Can someone advise a current source for the USB - RS232 cable (with PL2303 chipset) to connect my PAW unit to my Trig TT31 transponder ?  Also the specific pin connections required to the Trig TT31 unit ?

General Discussion / Re: USB-GPS Working in PilotAware
« on: October 16, 2015, 01:21:28 pm »
Thanks Lee and yes to your queries. However, I have sorted it now - found the answer in your post on the 'First Time Booting' thread. I had simply not found your Sky Demon set up advice previously. Have followed that and everything sprang into life instantly! Air testing next and then going on to look into using the onboard PDA that I mentioned to you. I have ascertained that it has the RS232 interface ability and there is a dedicated lead that I am trying to source. Will let you know how I get on. Also looking into coupling to my Trig transponder, with ADS-B out. Regards, Chris

I am a newbie with a non GPS iPad mini linked to a PAW unit with a u-blox7 GPS dongle in the PAW. I am running Sky Demon on the iPad and have powered up the PAW. The GPS has a pulsing green light OK. However, when I try to obtain the GPS data etc from the PAW using the Flarm setting I am getting an error message - Failed to establish a connection with the Butterfly Connect Unit - probably something simple and would be grateful for a steer on this.  Chris (G-BKGA/EGBE)
