Technical Support / Re: A really weird one, PAW grabbed traffic and held it.

Hi Lee,
I have a funke mode S transponder connected to PAW for ADSB out, which I have confirmed with both Goodwood (local to me and running ADSB out test) and Solent Radar they are receiving. My reg is G-FOXW and my ICAO hex code is 406EB2. I spoke to Keith yesterday and when I next get to the airfield will run some more checks, tests and screen shots, including the track file for Sunday's flt, and send over to you.
Thanks
Adrian

I just had a similar experience yesterday, flying Bidford back to Sussex. Getting airborne PAW came up with an alert of traffic 0.1m at our 3 o'clock. as we climbed that became 5 o'clock then 6 o'clock, always staying 0.1m distance, all the time with the large black bar similar to you have shown above with the warning. That stayed our entire route with a small red aircraft symbol superimposed above our symbol, but in reverse. After landing it all disappeared. Of course, after a short while from departure I figured this was a fault but the large black bar was annoying and hampering my Skydemon screen. With a turbulent flt anyway I could not find how to get rid of it. Most frustrating. I've got a permanent installation but when I get back to the airfield this week I'll get the flt track log and send it to Lee. Meantime I'll be contacting Keith to see what he has to say. I've only had PAW installed and running for 2 weeks and have had several issues which has severely dented my faith in PAW. Currently not sure the investment is worthwhile as I don't trust it.

Technical Support / Re: Connecting Funke transponer to pilotaware

Richard; when you say its not working, how are you assessing that? I have just been thru this and by the test required using a 2nd PAW it seemed my funke was not transmiting the ADSB as that wasn't picked up by the 2nd PAW. However, it is working as I flew over my nearest ADSB test airfield (Goodwood) and they confirmed receiving ok, as did solent Radar. So the BMAA put my on to Adrian Garner who has developed a software programme to independantly test the transmission. You can get this via his website at getyourwings.co.uk. I haven't run this yet but hope to do so later this week.
As long as you have set up your funke as per their manual and you have set the correct usb port in your PAW to know its a funke with the 4800 baud rate then saved your funke set up by exiting, switching off. then go into the 'show setup' screens and cycling thru to (I think) the 3rd screen it should show that its getting position info from the gps source. As long as its getting that then it will be transmitting. Do make sure you are using the Farnell usb-rs232 cable and that its wired into the funke rs232 cables corerectly, exactly as per the funke manual.
I'd be interested to hear how you get on. I do have a contact at funke, who is very helpful, if you want it but I doubt you will find its the funke thats the problem.

Further to my post on Friday re adsb issue, having spoken to Adrian Garner on suggestion of BMAA tech office, my funke transponder IS transmitting adsb. Did a test with Goodwood airfield yesterday and they confirmed all working. So, it seems it that the test with another PAW trying to confirm the adsb transmission is the problem. Which begs the question........ Which other ads transmissions is my PAW not seeing? Adrian Garner has developed a programme for use on a laptop which will prove the transmissions so will now run that to submit for certification.

I suspect I'm having similar problems to CJ re ADSB out. Just set it all up connected to my funke TRT800H transponder (which has the current 5.3 software) but using my friend's PAW we can eventually see my aircraft but the adsb column is all '-' so that's no good for a screen shot to submit for the BMAA approval. My transponder is getting a GPS position via PAW and I've checked the transponder settings. Even spoken to funke (helpful chap called Michael Frost). Can anyone offer advice? How do you set SIL and SDA values to zero?
All very frustrating!
Thanks
Adrian
