Should be with you tomorrow evening.

Today was my first flight after updating and there were 5 or 6 of these +/_ 100' alerts & warnings spread throughout a 30 minute flight.

None during the previous 15 hours using previous software version.

They do unfortunately undermine the system.

Is there any change to the code?

Regards,

Roger

Just wondering if there is any plan to market a more finished looking pilot aware device to non hobbyists pilots (at a higher price point).

uAvionix SkyEcho detects less but wins the fashion show & that may win over many potential PAW users......

Well I certainly stand corrected on this one.

Having checked the registration on FR24, we were in the same part of the sky at the same time yesterday & a big lesson learned.

Thanks everyone for their comments & apologies for my criticism of the product.

Best regards,

Roger

Many thanks,

Sent by direct email due to 512KB attachment restriction.

Just before t/o a hercules flew close by at low level & we had a perfect mode c traffic alert/wng, then about 15 mins into the flight the ghost warnings began, no traffic seen despite repeated turning & scanning, then I turned the PAW off.

Best regards,

Roger

I was running PilotAware Version(20161124) today & the suspect false warnings were bad enough to make me switch off.

Evening all,

I still receive many spurious airborne alerts that seem to come from my own mode c transponder & this undermines the value of other warnings.
Hex code is set on the config page although of course my mode C transmissions do not include any hex code.
Mode-CS+Filter(Beta) is also set.

I downloaded the tracks for post flight analysis but the post processor doesn't tell me anything about mode C traffic - it would be useful to reconstruct the traffic table from this file - can that be done?

To be frank, whilst most appreciative of all your efforts, I'm not interested in icing like the radar display until basic functionality works better. Spurious warnings are like crying wolf.

Any suggestions most welcome.

Finally got my audio sources balanced & radio behaving - thanks to all who contributed advice.

I added a 10k potentiometer to the amplifier output & was able to dial out the distortion when transmitting.

Think I now need a mute switch for the PAW channel for use in the circuit & on the ground!

Cheers,

Roger

Hi Everyone,

This thread has been quiet recently - unlike my PAW!
I finally got various audio sources balanced on my intercom & normally fly from a farm strip - all good.
However, when I arrived at a busy circuit today the PilotAware was a big audio distraction.
Is there any plan to offer a quick mute facility or possibly mute below a preset altitude?
What are others doing?

Cheers,

Roger

Thanks Chris & Tony,
I will try your suggestions.
No distortion noted on first flight as there was no transmitting & it only occurs when I press the ptt.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have made some progress but find myself, once again, wrestling with the mysteries of audio integration and hoping someone's advice can help me out.

I soldered up a resistive mixer & ebay amp which made my 3 audio devices nicely audible on a test flight during which I only monitored the VHF com. (There is a faint ticking noise when the iPad is charging)

This week I flew again & discovered that, when transmitting, my microphone sounds noisy & distorted (to me & also atc). De-powering the amp cures the problem.

Amplifier output goes to the intercom aux channel, not the comm, but of course the comm output does also go to the intercom.

The new problem only occurs when transmitting.

I will try reducing the amp gain & see if that helps but am otherwise unsure how to proceed.

Any advice most welcome.

If you can't see or don't know the position of conflicting traffic then the only deconfliction strategy is to climb or descend.
To do this you need to know the altitude of the other traffic relative to you.
That's what TCAS does.

Hello,

Just writing to add my preference for "relative altitude".

For anyone else that might not know, this is done on the Pilot Aware wifi screen which I was blissfully unaware of, not in ios settings.
