Title: Adding a second SDR.
Post by: peter.seddon on November 08, 2019, 10:11:32 am
Once installed with one SDR for PilotAware, can I just plug in a second SDR and antenna and reboot to get ADS-B or do I need to reload the software?

Hi Peter
You will need to rerun the pilotaware-OGN.update.sh script
This all depends on running an upto date version

Thx
Lee

It's running 20191008 so it should update but I saw on here that there is a problem with the auto update not happening.

Does this script run every time the pi is rebooted?

Hi Peter,

If you have done the upgrade to any post 20190810 software version, your OGN will check periodically (several times a day) for updates and if it finds one it automatically downloads then installs them.

The most likely reason you would need to re-run the ./PilotAware-OGN.config.sh script after that is if you add an SDR to a single SDR setup, or replace either of the SDRs, as the config script writes a Specific Address to each of the 2 x SDRs to ensure that the unit automatically uses the correct SDR and attached antenna for 868.3MHz (OGN) and 1090MHz every time it reboots. To do this, you must make sure your intended OGN antenna and dongle are in the Top Left USB slot (with the Ethernet Port to the left) and the one for 1090 is in the Bottom Left Port, then accept the naming suggested by the config.

The other reason might be to change the e-mail contact if the person maintaining the station changes.

Any probs come back on here.

Best Regards

Peter R

OK second SDR fitted and reconfig done, FLARM and P3I side is working so how do I check if the ADS-B receiver is working. I ave a separate Flight Aware system up and running with nearly 30 contact shown.

Hi Peter

which station is this ?

if you go to the OGNR homepage http://ognpaw.local this has a traffic table
are any of the items listed with a character 'A'

Alternately, click the RADAR tab from this same page and select the receiver as ADSB, and see if any traffic is displayed

**update** I have also sent you an email

Thx
