I don't understand lee's addendum to the latest software release. What homepage is Lee referring to when he mentions the HOTSPOT and PLATFORM.

Hi George,
What Lee is saying is that IF you want to use the UDP Unicast Messaging, (which you can't currently do as this version of SkyDemon hasn't yet been released) your PilotAware MUST be running Kernel v4.4xx firmware as shown on the Home Screen of your PilotAware after logging onto this from your tablet (or whatever).
If your PilotAware is running the older Firmware - Kernel v3.18.xx and you want to use the UDP Messaging, you have to update your PilotAware by a FULL SD Card Software Update - as described in the Operating Manual available on http://www.pilotaware.com/documents/
But you don't HAVE to update unless you want to or are experiencing problems with SkyDemon (which I currently don't and I'm still running the old setup).
Hope this helps clarify things.
Regards
Peter

Peter is correct, but in answer to the question ...
After connecting to PilotAware hotspot, browse to :-
http://192.168.1.1

Thanks for the prompt replies. I now understand!
I've checked my device. I am running Kernel 4.4.34-v7+
My SkyDemon version is 3.8.2.27336 (android beta), which does not yet have the PilotAware option in its connection menu.
Is there any expected performance advantage in using UDP messaging rather than the FLARM Protocol?

UDP may overcome some of the WiFi (TCP) issues reported by some users.
It is a more lightweight protocol
There are no real performance advantages.

Latest android beta SD has pilotAware selection...Works well!

So I did a full update to kernel 4.4, and noticed it took much longer (2 mins instead of less than 1) to boot....Radiate a WiFi hotspot. So reverted to original 3.18 and applied latest(hotfix) update....all seems good!
