Title: Can you identify which traffic is pilotaware and which is ads-b?
Post by: gwyn_carwardine on April 13, 2017, 02:16:51 pm
Just interested - in the feed out of pilot aware - is there a way to detect which of those aircraft are PAW output and which are ADS-B output. I know the FLARM coding doesn't provision for this but just wondering if there is a way of detecting it from other properties or combinations of properties in the data..

Yes

If you go to the traffic page there is a column that shows the origin of the target.
This is explained on the you tube video and the operating instructions

I believe Gwyn meant in the (Flarm) data stream coming out to the display device, Wifi or serial.

Forgot to follow up on this.

I am afraid there is nothing in the FLARM sentences to indicate this.

In the track files that are produced during running of the product, this information IS available.
For every contact there is a BITMASK indicating the types of data received.
This data is for post-processing, not live.

Thx

Thanks guys.

I was just wanting to turn it on at home and run a little something that would tell me when a PAW equipped plane was within range just to see how often it happens!

If you remove the SDR dongle, everything in the log will be a PAW transmission  :D
