New release (which I'm struggling to get to auto-update for some reason) has reminded me of a feature request from my time on Fly-UK. Wrote a post but never managed to get sufficient time/signal to send it at the time:
"Using PilotAware to good effect today on Fly-UK. Great for keeping track of a group loosely formating together. Great to see what height the group above are achieving with the cloudbase. And handy for visualising the commercial jet Aberdeen were kept us away from - although curiously not the rescue helicopter on track (no ADS-B transponder?)
However, it can be confusing on departure from a large event such as the Great North Fly In when there's multiple aircraft with PilotAware departing together - too many different units appear in the tablet WiFi list. Although it's generally obvious from signal strength which PilotAware is yours if you try to connect too soon its far too easy to connect to someone else's unit. Could consideration be given to changing the WiFi SSID to include the the aircraft registration, or just make it generally customisable?"

Just to add to your request. Could we connect direct to PAW via tablet to USB ?

Hi Richard,
Not sure I understand.
How can you connect to an iPad using USB ?
The only physical connectivity to an iPad is via the official hardware,
https://developer.apple.com/programs/mfi/
and to do this you need to join the MFI (made for ios) program
this is an expensive route to go down.
Thx

Hi lee, you have answers my question. I just thought that it may be possible to conect direct to the PAW via the USB cable instead of using the wifi to stop accidentally connecting to another near by PAW. With Apple there is always a silly cost with there development tool. Never mind it was just a Thourght . Thank you.

Solved it Lee. Seemed to have disconnect USB WiFi dongle to make it auto-update for some reason.
Good to hear it's in the next release - shame I didn't remember to mention it when I first thought of it rather than remembering immediately after the release!

Hi Mat
Solved it Lee. Seemed to have disconnect USB WiFi dongle to make it auto-update for some reason.
I have come across this before.
The WiFi sets up a gateway address of 192.168.1.1, and many routers use this as their wired gateway address.
Disconnecting all dongles, seems to overcome this conflict.
Glad you got it sorted
Thx
