Hi,
i had a problem using the latest skydemon release on an Ipad : from the 3.12.9.190 SkyDemon wait forever if the connection with rosetta is lost.
It happened to me that to power off Aircraft and rosetta toghether, leavinsg SD in navigation mode (and getting the usual "connecting device" message).
When i powered on again Rosetta (15 minutes later) SD was still in "connecting device" status but did not reconnect automatically.
I exited SD, checked wifi connections and verified that rosetta was running correctly through the radar page, all was good.
Opened again SD and…. did not connect. Tried all the usual things like wifi on/off/on etc. but it was no longer able to connect.
Only when i powered on/off rosetta it worked again.
Very curious about the strange beaviour i tried to reproduce the problem and, yes it happens all the times.
Did something similar happened to someone ?

Hi Federico
What version of PilotAware are you running ?
If it is 20190621, please try altering the following setting
Configure->Device Connect Setting
from Auto to PilotAware(UDP)
Let me know if that makes a difference
Thx

OK noticed this in the release notes for 3.12.8
https://www.skydemon.aero/plan/versionhistory.aspx
When using the PilotAware third-party device connection, SkyDemon will attempt to reconnect to the device forever (iOS, Android, PC)
Previously, SkyDemon would eventually give up if the device had not sent any data for a while or if your tablet had been put to sleep.
I will try to test this version over the next week

Hi Lee,
Rosetta is already configured as you suggested.
I can test the "Auto" setting just to see if there is any difference.
I'll let you know.

Hi Federico
I managed to reproduce this issue, it is very simple
1. Start pilotAware
2. Connect Ipad to PilotAware
3. Start SD and connect to PilotAware
4. Put Ipad to sleep
5. Awaken iPad
SkyDemon is now locked up saying it is trying to connect
I dont believe this is related to PilotAware, in parallel I had another device connected, which continued its connection throughout
I have contacted SkyDemon, and they have to investigate, but think they may know what the problem could possibly be
the fix is to shutdown Skydemon (swipe the app out of the running list), then restart and reconnect
PilotAware should NOT need restarting.
Thx

Would just like to add I’ve been experiencing the exact same problem, but with a IPhone 7 Plus.
Closing SkyDemon then re-opening solves the issues but the flight logs restart.
