I am brand new to PilotAware. The Classic kit arrived at the end of last week. All working perfectly and configured properly, I think. I've yet to fly with it - aircraft problem, not the kit.
I am reading all that I can, but I am a little confused about OGN-R and the appropriate software. I now what OGN-R actually is, but when it shows "PilotAware 20180129 Available" in the top right hand corner of this forum, is there only one type of software in use by the Classic (of which this date's is the latest version) whether one is using OGN-R, or not?
My Classic arrived with version 20170721
Sorry if this is a bit basic, but I don't want to upload a version that is not compatible with my specific build.
My group flies out of White Waltham (EGLM) and, as far as I know, there is only one other user based there. Already, though, lots of questions on how I rate the kit, so there is open interest.

Hi,
The OGN-R uses separate software to collect and rebroadcast glider and other FLARM equipped aircraft positions to those equipped with PilotAware. They are two completely separate but parallel software systems. OGN-R Software should NOT be loaded onto a standard PilotAware. The standard PilotAware software is designed to receive and display OGN-R contacts automatically whenever you are within range of an operational OGN-R station.
You should however update your Classic to the most recent Public Release PilotAware Software which is 20180129 - available from https://pilotaware.lode.co.uk N.B. There is NO www
See instructions from page 38 on the user Manual available on www.pilotaware.com.
Your best option is to follow the instructions for USB update.

OK. Many thanks. Update downloaded, which I will apply.

Just for those a little wary of software updates, the USB method recommended is pretty painless. Ive just done mine and everything appears to be working as expected and the correct version listed.

Well Done :)
