General Discussion / Re: Bridge Board purchase

I tried to break the connector off a scrap board earlier.
Wow! I couldn't physically do it ! Must have been an unlucky strike.

Anyway, I'm in contact with Gerry who wants to try a self repair, we've offered to repair it and test it for him.

All good

Dave.

Hi David,

I have responded to your email, if this is a PAW Classic, then they are all tested before they are despatched and of course they are under warranty, so we will get this sorted.

The nice man on the ground gave me some traffic information, but certainly didn't give me any instructions or anything other than information.

I think anyone who is the ground part of A/G usually knows what they're doing.

Usually may be the case, but we all know that what constitutes A/G varies widely from place to place and there are those whose bossiness constitues near-controlling. There is also no requirement to have any visual contact with the outside world to provide an A/G service. It can be done from a windowless office.

I hold an A/G Cert of Competence, but I do hope, were we to get a PAW at my home field (and I'm encouraging the management to consider it) that I'd never be tempted to use it for more than stuational awareness to enhance any information provided.

I think if an A/G person is thinking they are a controller, then the situation is dangerous way before you consider PAW. It's a completely separate issue.

I was climbing out at Rougham the other day and there was a plane scooting along, about 100 yds to the side of the runway, dead side, at about 700'

I think he was about 700' as he was below me.

The nice man on the ground gave me some traffic information, but certainly didn't give me any instructions or anything other than information.

I think anyone who is the ground part of A/G usually knows what they're doing.

(PilotAware wasn't in use, it was just MK1 eyeball)

Tis done.

There is also stock back in of full units for anyone who wants one.
There was actually some stock put up yesterday, but it sold out in one day.

We never put stock up that's not actually tested, so the lads are testing as quick as they can ;-)

Technical Support / Re: What is JP2 for and what is the pin out of it?
« on: September 07, 2016, 08:53:58 am »
Hi,

It's not being kept secret, it's just not utilised yet. We put it on to use during testing mainly. The pins aren't active (except the power pins) so there's nothing useable to document.

Of course I *could* tell you what it *can* do, but then I'd have to shoot you etc etc. ;-)
(or you may die of boredom first)

cheers

Dave.

General Discussion / Re: Hardware Availability
« on: August 30, 2016, 12:11:07 am »
Hi,

That's odd, as everything has been in stock for weeks.

We did however pull it all from the website last week as we are taking all our stock to the LAA Rally, where you can buy it without having to pay the postage fees ! Which for a full unit are £8.25.
(As it has to be tracked and insured)

If you are going to the LAA Rally then they will be available there, otherwise the website will be back in stock the week after. (We have more stock arriving)

There was an email list back before we were taking forward orders, but that was last June. There was never a "back in stock" email list, just a "notify us when it's in production" list.

You have been checking the shop at www.pilotawarehardware.com haven't you ?

Anyway,

See you at the LAA Rally or, make your purchase next week after the Rally when the shop will be restocked.

kind regards

You definitely need the Bridge now that it's no longer in the beta testing phase.  Can you tell us where it says you don't please.

Dave.

Takes about 15 minutes to install itself after you've powered up with the software.

Of course, it won't work without a PilotAware Bridge fitted.

No need to self build any more....

www.pilotawarehardware.com

and you have to use the official bridge anyway if you do.
