The unit that you need is an Anker Power Drive 2
Highly recommended

Hi Steve

Sorry yes if you are part of the ARF replacement deal then this was a once only deal so that people who wanted to stay with RPiB+ and not upgrade could and as we explained if you want to upgrade to a pi2b wait until you have done so before exercising  your licence
Sorry new licence required

General Discussion / Club Presentations

I know that many of you are spreading the word about PilotAware. Thanks for all the sterling work that you are doing. It must be disappointing for many who fire up their PilotAware units and desperately seek for other units to be displayed apart from Mode S and ADSB. The sky is after all a very big place and PilotAware has only been on sale for a month.

So the key thing to help us all, is to spread the good news about PilotAware so we can get as many units out there as possible. As you will see we have produced a Club Flyer that can be customised and posted in your club house or flying club. Additionally we have been visiting flying clubs around the country to demonstrate PilotAware, correct some of the myths and help with installation and operating tips. These have been very popular and well attended.

So, if you would like us to visit your club evening or fly in please let us know so that we can help you to help us to help everyone to 'See and be Seen'.

Thanks

General Discussion / Re: Advertising Flyer

Great Idea Giles

I have now produced an advertising flyer as requested.

This can be put up on your local club noticeboard if you want to promote PilotAware amongst your flying buddies.
Also remember that we are happy to come along to one of your club nights to give a presentation on how we are doing with PilotAware if that is something that you would like.

Drop me a mail

A PDF of The Flyer can be found at http://www.pilotawarehardware.com/dl/clubflyer.pdf

Let me know if you have any suggestions

Cheers

Keith

I understand that the motor gliders at Lynton on Ouse have them fitted as they mix with the chaps from Sutton Bank but have you uncovered something else

I obtained two license codes keyed to the Pi MAC addresses of my two beta PAWs, to replace the previous ones, keyed to the WiFi addresses.  Are these the one-time use complimentary license codes referred to in Keith's "Even more good news" message of May 18?  I obtained, and used, my new codes on May 12 and May 13, before the warning on May 18.  I would like to upgrade one of my PAWs to a Pi 2B, does this mean I have to pay another £15?

Hi Richard

So that I am clear on your position

Are you part of the ARF discount scheme whereby if you sent your wireless things ARF radio units back to Aviation Technology and Hardware before 6th June you had a discount off a new Bridge or a complete PilotAware Classic unit. or

Have you bought a new Bridge(s)

Regards

Keith

General Discussion / PilotAware Out and About
« on: June 08, 2016, 11:52:54 am »
Now that there are literally hundreds of PilotAware units that have been delivered from Pilotawarehardware.com. It time to get out and use them. However the airspace over the UK is still a big place to go looking for other users. How about we use this thread to let others know where we are going so that us like minded Pilots Aware can See and be Seen by lots of others.

Now I am not advocating aerial train spotting, unless you are into that thing but it would be good if we knew that we were going somewhere where us birds of a feather can flock together to spot PilotAware and ADSB targets.

Obviously the main events will look after themselves, however what about the smaller ones wings and wheels etc where we could give them support and have a reason to fly somewhere.

For example there is a competitions fly in at Fenland this Saturday 11th June and a wings and wheels at Wellesbourne on 19th June

You could even rig up a base station "come on down"

I am sure that you will have other barbecues fly ins etc that will suit locally so use this thread to let us all whats going on and just as importantly what went on.

Fly Safe See and be Seen PilotAware

Technical Support / Re: SOLVED! - Locating the unit and antenna
« on: June 07, 2016, 08:16:06 pm »
Great Feedback Graham

Yes we have found that the ADSB antenna picks up traffic even it fit is not optimal. However it is still vertically polarised

Pass on your good news Trip advisor 5 stars eh!

Hi Richard

All the antennas should be mounted vertically not horizontally.

Hi john
Very much the same as I have on my sportscruiser. Without the covers the 50 ohm coax on its own gets bent in the airflow so reduces its efficiency.
It will be interesting to see what range you get. It should be 20k + probably better looking behind than in front. Interesting to see how you get on.
We're the holes already there

      Ahah

You say of course but it could have been the parachutists themselves

1 To let other air users that they were in the air
2 To let you know they had all left and if on a static line were not wrapped around the fuselage as has happened
3 To let the ground now when they had all landed and the runway was clear for other traffic to land.

Lots of uses for PilotAware  8)
