General Discussion / Re: Vector analysis - no PAW signal?

how interesting, and thanks so much ... thought I had but clearly not; will fix next time in the airplane
the P3i scheme also makes sense as the antenna is on the right side of the dashboard, will try and move a bit higher

here we go ... 400CBD and yes it is, as Hex-ID
(first pic is with ADSB as source, the second with PilotAware as source on the vector page; the config page just shows the hex ID as above and flight ID as GBJCW)

General Discussion / Vector analysis - no PAW signal?
« on: December 19, 2020, 03:38:09 pm »
Tried out the Vector analysis, great piece of software.  Checked it for my aircraft and the overall picture is good and solid reception quite a while out.  However, when I checked the different sources it turned out it was all from the ADS-B from my transpoder/external antenna, and the PAW picture (presumably that's only the PAW P3i signal from my internal PAW antenna) is completely empty.  Would have understood if weak but nothing?  Flying from Fairoaks in a PA32 so there are ground stations around; when I check the PAW status page I get the 4 greens that it's sending/receiving.  Any ideas what I'm missing here or could check?

Technical Support / Re: Wifi connected but nothing on 192.168.1.1

Lee - I'm as perplexed as you are; the same problem happened today on a flight.  Ipad and iphone both connect on the wifi, but only the iphone would show the home page on 192.168.1.1 and show traffic; the ipad doesn't show the home page and Skydemon can't connect.  It happened on different ipads, so I'm also running out of ideas.  When it works this is clearly an amzing piece of technology, but this is taking the fun out of it.
Can we try a new hardware?  Where do you want me to send the kit?

classic, just tried again and I can't repeat the fault; all booting and connecting fine; aargh
well, here are the logs as it runs up; no broken pipes this time but a weird "FS CORRUPT 2"

ran the working ipad in "logging" while the other came up, essentially 2 messages
 - "await radio startup", roughly every second,
 - "recv_pthread(): Broken pipe", came up 3 times

On the home page all green, under "navigation" it shows "0 devices", all green except amber on "TRX(RXTX)" with status "TX=0, RX=0, CRFAIL=0";
ah, FILESYS Mount  RO and RW just came up, radio ok, now also green, and another broken pipe alert (4mins in after reboot); navigation is still "connected 0 devices", and the other ipad still doesn't connect on 192.1.68.1.1

ok, re multi-device: currently the iphone and one ipad work alone and together; the other ipad doesn't work alone and doesn't while the others are working; yes 2 devices in parallel was and is working
battery is an Anker power bank (again, it's working with that battery on one iphone and 1 ipad)
yes 20160708
re nothing on 192...: when it's working it's working as intended (ie home page etc on 192.168.1.1, Skydemon shows traffic etc)
when it's not then:
 - ipad does connect as Wifi to the PAW hot spot (ie on the ios Wifi details page you see the DHCP on PAW allocating an IPaddr, subnet mask shows normal 255.255.255.0 and router shows 192.168.1.1)
 - when I start Safari and enter http://192.168.1.1 the progress bar moves about an inch, then stops, after about 60secs there's an errors msg "could not open .. server stopped responding"
 - SkyDemon shows the "waiting to connect to external device" window then also stops after 60secs with an error msg (and yes, it's the same SkyDemon config that's on the other ipad where everything is working as intended)
 - you didn't ask but no, it's not the ipad as last time I had exactly the same stubborn behaviour on the ipad that's now happily showing the traffic pages and SkyDemon (that's why it doesn't help to just go with the ipad that works now, because I'll be sitting in the aicraft next time and it may just not work that time)

yes the home Wifi router is also on 192.168.1.1 but that should be off when I selected the PAW hot spot, and the IP addr changes when it logs into the PAW

I have compared every page I can find on both ipads to see any difference, but can't find anything ... beats me what's going on ...

As recent as it gets I guess: PAW classic, version was 20160530, updated yesterday but no change.  Iphone5/ipads are Mini 1 and Mini 2, ios 9.3.2.
Baffled as everything is as it should be, and clearly the PAW is working.  Just one or the other ipad decide not to play ball at the last second.  And once they don't connect on 192... I've not gotten them to connect even with the usual tricks (wifi off/on, clear cache, reboot, etc etc).

So this is strange: I have in front of me an iphone and 2 ipads.  All are connected via Wifi to the same PAW, show sufficient reception, and the PAW works fine with battery/cable/etc.  All are on the browser and 192.168.1.1.  The iphone shows the home screen, one ipad does, the other doesn't ("server stopped responding" after a while).
The problem is not even the ipads are consistent, the one that is showing the home screen now failed to show it last time in the aircraft.  Couldn't get it to connect on 192.168.1.1, and SkyDemon also couldn't connect.
Any trick to get the connection working?  ANything people have seen getting in the way?
