That was a swift answer but you are talk to " no electronics person??!!"
I can see the letter JMP but other than that it appears exactly the same as your photo in the build instructions.
Is the one shown there correct or does that need modifying?

Now I am going to guess!
 To follow your "power up the board and test the supplies" I wonder if it is a case of 5.5volts across pin10  row 3 and pin1 row 3, and then look for 3.3 volts between pin 9and GRND and also pin 8 and GRND?

Looking from the back of the Xbee adapter, you should measure 3.3v going into the ARF so that is column 4, row 10, GND column 4, row 1

If the JMP is in place, than you can simply swipe it off with a hot soldering iron
I would recommend powering up the board, and testingthe supplies with a multimeter

Actually there could be an issue here.

Stephen, are you saying that the green slider bar in CollisionAware has moved to the off position ?
This means that the connectivity to PilotAware was lost for this application.
Efectively we have 2 WiFi connections

1. CollisionAware <=> PilotAware

and

2. PilotAware <=> Skydemon

this would imply that connection (1) was broken, if you did have a monitor connected, you would see a message saying
listening for connection on 2001

Indicating that the connection was indeed lost

I am planning to replace CollisionAware on connection (1) with GPS NMEA, which can supply TCP & UDP connections,
then I plan to make (1) a UDP connection, this does not complain if there are intermittant drops, whereas TCP
connections require a connection to be remade, much less tolerant

One other note, PilotAware WiFi runs on channel 9 at a low 5mW power, I wonder if this could be suffering from higher
power WiFi routers in the same vicinity possibly on the same channel ?

Every 20 minutes or so, the "CollisionAware is Using Your Location" bar on my iPad disappears and I have to go back into the app and reconnect it.

That is definitely something I have not seen.

Can you describe your entire setup ?

When you say it stops using your location, is the app still running in the background ?

I have seen that thread thanks. My experience has been that cheap switched mode psu's give me radio interference. Can you recommend one please?
Batteries are a solution until they are flat!

It always seems to be luck of the draw with the switch mode, sometimes they work well, sometimes not I'm afraid

Hi All,

Having read up on this I believe this to be the current position.

ADS-B transponders can supply Barometric and GNSS altitude, in other words the altitude
based upon QNE 1013.25mb, and also altitude reported by the GNSS.

In many cases it appears that the GNSS component is missing from the data, BUT the QNE is always
present.

I have provided an entry in the http interface to allow you to enter the QNH, this is then used to translate
the barometric altitude reported by ADS-B to the equivalent GNSS altitude.
This is a first step solution.

In parallel, I am in the process of adding a barometric pressure sensor to my Prototype board, so that
this calculation can be managed without the user having to dial in the QNH.

The http interface can be maintained to provide backwards compatibility to early versions without a
pressure sensor.

I will build one with what i have Pi2, 802.11 N and the R820T2 ( i do also have an R820T if it doesn't work!)
I assume i can boot this without the ARF to try things and then add the ARF later or will that cause me issues?

Sorry just noticed another issue, the PI 2 will not work, you need a PI B+
The PI 2 requires some additional drivers for the hardware - this work has not yet been done
Did you read the construction guide ?
I am pretty sure it says Pi B+, but maybe I need to check

I think i added a couple of letters to the part number! should have just been R820T2 or in full RTL2832u – R820T2 newer DVB-T stick http://www.hamradioscience.com/rtl2832u-r820t-vs-rtl2832u-r820t2/2/

The issue will be whether the R820T2 appears backward compatible with the R820T drivers, or whether the R820T drivers also include support for the R820T2 hardware. As always with these issues, there is only one way to find out ....

if it is seeking for more than a couple of seconds, there is a problem, no need to wait any longer.

setup->Connectivity_Options
    - Selected Flarm
    - Entered Air Connect Key value = 6000

Selected 'Fly'
Selected 'Use FLARM'

Just tried to run the CollisionAware app on the iPhone and change the ICAO code and realised that there is no way to get shot of the soft keyboard or scroll down to click on update.

Is this known about or a work-around?

Oh that is a pain.
I use an iphone 6 plus, I presume you are on a smaller screen.

I mentioned on another thread I am close to releasing a new version which uses the web interface to do this instead of the ios app, are you up for trying some prerelease software to get around this ?

Having just built and tested my second unit - I realise that having the ICAO set at a default of 000000, and the code filtering out duplicate ICAO codes is probably a bad thing - by default the unit filters out another unit set at 000000 :)
Once I twigged and set it to the MAC address as a random number, all was good!  Maybe don't filter out 000000?

This is actually a bug.
Firstly i am deleting these feature from collisionaware and it is moving into the web interface
If the ICAO is 000000 it is supposed to use the mac address of the dongle, in fact I think I may simply make it an XOR of the upper 6 and lower 6 bytes to create the 6 byte code.
There is a special field in the packet to indicate it is autogenerated

That should fix your issue, hoping to get a release out in next couple of days with other enhancements as well, details to follow
