OGN-R PilotAware / Re: Updating from Release 20191008

It's not working at all now. Looks like I'll have to do a new install. Does the file stored at latest.zip have the 20191111 release?

Thanks for the help, yes it appears to be working now but I cant get into the flarm data on 8080 or 8081. Pilot Aware now shows 20191111 for the version. I'll see what happens tomorrow, after a reboot tonight. Spot the gliders etc show the receiver as up and working.

OK it worked that time, it didn't take 20 to 30 mins though. BUT it went back to the command prompt and then aborted my connection and now I can't get back in with Putty.

I must be doing something wrong. I Putty'd into my station and input the line "curl -s https://pilotaware.lode.co.uk/ogn_install.sh | bash" after the $ and got the following reply
-bash: -s: command not found
-bash: cur: command not found

Help!!!

It's running 20191008 so it should update but I saw on here that there is a problem with the auto update not happening.

Once installed with one SDR for PilotAware, can I just plug in a second SDR and antenna and reboot to get ADS-B or do I need to reload the software?

This is primarily a station to log FLARM flights from Walney with Pilot Aware added as a bonus. If you look at the layout for Walney airfield from Google Earth, you will see that there are three runways forming a triangle. Depending on the wind direction we can use any of the six runway directions. The location of the receiver will be on the mobile control tower caravan which can be at any end of the runway intersections, hence the 500 mtr error in position. This station will be a backup the UKBRW which iis on a hill some 3 km away so that all takeoffs and landings will be logged on Ktrax.

OGN-R PilotAware / GPS input
« on: October 12, 2019, 11:17:22 am »
Is anyone working on adding a GPS input so that a mobile unit is possible. The reason I ask is because at Walney EGNL we can set up shop at any of the three runway intersections. At the moment it is programmed for the centre of the airfield so there will be an error between the programmed and actual position of the receiver.  This could be up to 500 mtrs.

You don't half make life difficult. I've finally after a few hours digging cured the problem The file dhcpcd.org.conf disables wlan0 with a line at the end of the script "denyinterfaces wlan0" remove this and all works fine.

Tried ifconfig and there is no IP address. I powered up my other PI running Debian desk top and this does show an IP address.

It's running on Pi 3B not + though so has built in WiFi.

The whole script of the /etc_org/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf is as follows

Country=GB
contrl_interface=DIR=/var/run/wpa_supplicant GROUP=netdev
update_config=1
network={
        ssid="MYSSID"
        psk="MYPSK"
}

When I run my hub manager I can see a MAC address connected but with no IP address so I think something is missing.
Also the name ognpaw is missing.

Works perfectly on Ethernet though.

Yep. I recently renewed my "experimental" station using new software on a new PI 3 and I got Wifi working almost immediately, no problems.

I edited the /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf file for which you have to unlock the read/write and then edit the permanent one which is /etc_org/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf. So something like:

sudo /root/mount_rw.bash
sudo nano /etc_org/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf

Then add in lines with your SSID and password:

network={
    ssid="<ssid>"
    psk="<password>"
}

Then set read-only again:

sudo /root/mount_ro.bash

and reboot.

I've set up a static IP address as well on mine so I can easily find it and log on using SSH, but that's not necessary just for it to run.

I *think* this time around that's all I did and it connected to my Wifi. I'm not in Guildford at the moment so I don't know if this is exactly correct but if it doesn't work, come back and I'll check.

Another question, when did you add the lines, before running the config script or after when it was up and running by stopping the service?
