Technical Support / Re: Software Update

Oh well now just checked through things and found that somehow the licence key was carried over from the one paws to the other during the update process - I don't know how this happens as the 192.168.1.1 page should always only show the data from the wifi link from the running PAWS... its now working again - phew

Technical Support / Software Update

Ok so i have 2 fully licensed PAWS. Update both using USB last night and checked both and all ok at home. Went flying today and found that my primary one did not work with Butterfly connect error and a bunch of red squares on the home page..... the second one works fine. Now back home, thinking well just maybe one cannot use the same USB software update for multiple PAWS updates :o although my instinct says this should not be an issue. Reload the software onto USB stick, re-do the update and still issues. I then notice that it says that my license has expired - how on earth does this happen?? Keith what do i do now?

Ok so, before doing the software update I fired up the PAWS, went to the config page through my web browser (did not type new full address as it comes up when I start to type 192 etc). Never previously had to re-type full address on previous installs.

Switched off - connected to LAN, powered up, waited long time, powered down, disconnected LAN, powered up - waited long time, connected to wifi, went to web browser previous link was still there, refresh page, nothing happens, wifi drops out, try numerous times same results....

So take second unit do the same - get same result - scratch head and bit of arse tooo !! think ok perhaps try old software install process - so out with laptop, SD card etc. = same result - hmmmm resort to Forum and BINGO not first to have this issue and sure not going to be the last - follow the above thread and hey ho gets to config page - however need to now type in license key etc etc - first unit wont accept license key and says its expired.... oh crap now what - try second unit and that accepts its license key, will retry first unit again later... clearly a difference when doing the software upgrade when plugging into the LAN than doing it with the SD card method ??

Lee - I don't follow the  "After installation did you perform a reboot from the web interface " if I cannot get to the web interface in the first place??

I have had the same issues....

Check PAWS function and check access to Config Page on web browser. Download new software either using LAN or through the old way with SD card.

Fire up, connect to PAWS wifi, go to config page and...... wham nothing happens wifi drops out.

So it would seem that the latest software needs a different web page http://192 etc etc string than the previous software - how come??

I am going to try again with this
"To be absolutely sure that you are going to the PilotAware landing page, it should be

http://192.168.1.1/index.html
Or
http://192.168.1.1/index.cgi

Followed this and to set the records straight....

My PAWS has the correct Hex Code and had on that day no flight ID entered. I have now since added my Reg in the flight ID box.

I have a Garmin GTX327 Transponder which is NOT mode s nor ADS-B capable. It is also not configurable for aircraft hex info or Reg info

Hi all after reading through the latest developments I want to ask - What is the point of the conspicuity trial of LPAT, PilotAware and FLARM, as it looks as though there is already a decision made on LPAT and 1090 EC equivalent units?

ok here is a question:
So I'm flying and outputting ADS-B through transponder and have my PAWS all up and running. I fly towards say Ian Fallon and he is doing the same thing with ADS-B and PAWS. If we are out of PAWS range I would expect that we would see each other on the ADS-B receiver input.....so if we fly towards each other what will happen when we get to within PAWS range ??

General Discussion / Re: NMEA out to transponder.
« on: November 11, 2015, 05:24:27 pm »
IanF - I was wondering if its rather the Transponder interrogating the GPS on the TX feed (from trnspndr to PAW)...

I have connected mine up and set trnspndr settings on RS232 to NMEA messages, and then fired up A/C mounted PAWS and then a second PAWS in my car. SD showed both units but info displayed seems like it was PAW to PAW.
How can I check that the ADS-B data is being sent ?? as I could not get Flightradar24 to run properly (poor data network in hangar) and even so would it show with A/C in hangar on the ground?

bnmont - did you connect from PAW the RS232 TX and RX to your TRT800 or just the RS232 TX. I was wondering what the Transponder does with both RS232 Tx  & RX connection.
