Technical Support / Re: Old registration showing

Ok, thanks Lee, all understood

In short it sounds like the issue may propogate itself out over time, or may not ever!

No dramas, doesn’t affect us directly as long as we don’t get ghosting once our Mode S is installed

Was mainly querying it as we keep getting told by people with ground stations that our “Reg is still wrong”!

Thanks for the kind help

Hi Peter and Vince;

Thanks for the replies

Vince is correct, our change is scenario “1” - UK registered 3-axis aircraft; we just changed the registration to one we preferred shortly after we purchased the aircraft.

So it’s clear that the issue here is a database issue. It does sound like there’s a bit more digging required to understand where this data is stored and how it ends up being updated. Are you suggesting every PAW and ground station literally has this data native on it?

Thank you for the helpful responses so far, appreciate the progress already and will look forward to any further expansion from Lee et al

Thank you for the response Peter

The HexID stays the same across the registration change - so it appears that the new registration needs to be updated in any databases to be associated with that hex

I’ll post a config screenshot next time at the aircraft

Thanks for the help

Technical Support / Old registration showing

Hi there;

We have PilotAware Rosetta and currently no other hardware of relevance (half way through a transponder change).

The aircraft was recently reregistered - the new details are correctly setup in the configuration but the aircraft is still appearing to ATOM stations (eg Turweston) as the old registration.

Any ideas please?

In particular I’m worried that we will have future ghosting issues once our new mode s txpdr is installed

Thanks for any advice!

General Discussion / External installation return of stock

Hi PilotAware people;

I’m keen to get my hands on a Rosetta + external installation kit but note the latter is out of stock at present.

Are you likely to have stock any time soon please?

Thank you

Martin

OGN-R PilotAware / Re: pilot ware seeing own flarm through OGN

Hi again;

We still haven’t had the chance to flight test to confirm whether FLARM configuration has solved this issue.

In the meantime though, can the experts please draw any conclusions from the diagnostics, particularly given some of the messages apparent - are they a concern, or normal behaviour?

Images attached

Thanks again for the excellent support

Hi Lee and all;

We are having a similar issue on a classic PAW.

Please could you kindly help us with further detail of instructions on what to change, where, and how?

Our FLARM setup is a FLARM mouse - do we need to change the code on that itself separately and if so how?

Thank you

Hi Ian;

Thank you for the kind reply, that'd be great. We had wondered whether there was some magic that could make the splitter redundant, it seems a strange bit of kit!

We'll look forward to your further info...

Thank you for the much appreciated help; its great that the knowledge is out there and available, and kind of you to share it.

Hi there;

We are similarly trying to setup a FLARM mouse and would appreciate some clear guidance if anyone has experience please? (We are newbies to this type of tech).

The FLARM mouse has an RJ12 male connector, and was supplied with a separate lead with an RJ12 male to a pair of females, and into this a separate RJ12 male with loose power wires only.

So far we believe we need an RS232 to USB like this to go into the PAW https://uk.rs-online.com/mobile/p/products/6877828/ ? And that we crimp a female RJ12 to this to connect to the male on the separate lead or the FLARM (dependant upon below). Any guidance on wire connections here would be useful please...

Then do we need to provide a separate power supply, or can the FLARM be powered via the USB to RJ12?

Thanks for any guidance...

Martin/Neil
