Technical Support / Re: Huawei-E3372-325

Hi Steveu, many thanks for the info and due to the high current consumption I have sent the dongle back today. I have just purchased a Huawei E8372H-320 LTE/4G which provides a local WiFi that the PilotAware can use. I am hoping to use the spare power slot in the Anker charger adapter with a USB extension cable to mount the dongle in an appropriate location to get the best reception.

Hi all,
I have just purchased this Dongle to provide our PilotAware with internet access for iGrid. I unfortunately did not realise that that it does not provide a WiFi signal but internet via the USB connection. Can PilotAware gain access to the Internet via the USB connection or do I need to purchase a different dongle.

Many thanks for all the advice. I think I will initially set it up as standard and see how syndicate members get along with it.  If we encounter problems I might use the ‘HUAWEI E8372 WiFi/WLAN LTE modem‘ as the USB is just for power and you can fit two external aerials to give better 3G/4G reception.

Hi There,
I am talking about a 3G/4G Dongle with an internal SIM card and preferably an external antenna that would supply the Rosetta with an internet connection for iGRID such as the ‘Waveshare SIM7600E-H 4G DONGLE with Antenna”. This would be permanently installed in the aircraft with its own data SIM so that no member of the Syndicate would be required to use their own telephone as a data source.

Hi,
I was wondering if it would be possible to configure Rosetta to work with a 3G/4G Dongle and a prepaid data SIM for iGRID. We have a syndicated aircraft with a permanently installed Rosetta and multiple users with various phones and Wi-Fi passwords.  If it was possible to permanently install a 3G/4G Dongle to supply the required data for iGRID then the system would work for all our members even those with no data plans.

Many thanks.

Technical Support / Re: Best cable for aerial extension

Hi all,
Many thanks for the link to Gigatronix, as they did not have H155 cable selectable on their website I called them and talked to a very knowledgeable person who suggested LBC240 extra flex and priced up two leads at a total cost of £44.
I priced all the parts from wifi-shop24 for H155 coax, and including shopping and a crimping tool (€16/£14) it came to €43/£39.
So unless anyone knows of a better option I will order the parts from wifi-shop24 and add the crimping pliers to my tool kit.
PS it will be available for hire for the cost of a pint😀😀 excluding shipping.

Hi all,
I am in this same situation as Dave regarding fitting PilotAware to an Ev97. I have searched the internet and found the H155 cable, SMA connectors and crimpers to make up the extension leads but it appears a bit excessive to have to purchase a tool that I will only use once. Does anyone know of a company that could make up the leads for me to reduce the overall cost.

Best Regards.
