Thanks Lee! Yes sure:)

40632D around 14:30-15:00 UTC on 17th April 2023

Take a look at this icao code using vector
https://www.pilotaware.com/analysis/vector
Be sure to disable ALL days except 17/4

You will notice the performance is not great, and this is base upon a 12db antenna on the ground stations. A 2db / 3db gain antenna airborne will be considerably worse

Thx

I can definitely try and ask, however, as a flight tracking app was definitely showing it’s position on the ground (definitely not MLAT) and clearly marking it as ADSB - then it is fair to assume it was transmitting?

Yes if it was not moving
Do you have the icao of the se2 devices, and date/time of flight?
Thx
Lee

A skyecho has a vso setting
Anything less than this and it will not emit a position report
Can you check its setting

Do these aircraft also have mode S transponders?
Are you sure that the transponder is giving a bearingless, and cap1391 is not detected?

General Discussion / Re: 4G Router iGRID

Under configure you can enable the router function
This will give you what you require
Thx

Actually this works today, there is already a template you can copy

CAP1391 is the UK transceiver device, currently only device on the market is skyecho

The Base Station is showing how well your aircraft is seen from the ground

The RX says, how well you are seen from other aircraft, this can only be measured from users with PAW + iGRID
The caveat here is that for an A/C Receive there are 2 RF devices to consider
- Quality of your installation
- Quality of their installation

so you could have the best installation in the world, and this would be shown from a ground view perspective
But for any captured data by another airborne receiver that would depend upon the quality of their installation, for instance, thrown in the luggage compartment - not great, external antenna with ground plane - much better

General Discussion / Re: 4G Router iGRID
« on: March 22, 2023, 01:43:33 pm »
So I have been testing a small 4G router, with the traditional aerials it seems to be working to 5-6kft currently, ordering some different aerials for testing. I have the router set to ‘Passthrough’ due to how the PAW is expecting a tether from a phone, currently this only allows one device to be connected to the internet. Do you think you can also add a feature to connect the iGRID via the Lan connection? This means I will be able to connect my other devices to the router and have 4G internet to phone etc at these higher altitudes? I am playing with ways to do it but I guess for others to this might be the easiest way to make it available for everyone.

If you connect an RJ45 into the PAW ethernet connector, this will work today
This feature has been available since 2019
Thx

General Discussion / Re: Lee - trying to impress us ?
« on: March 18, 2023, 10:03:27 am »
Thanks for the.comment
We made an internal decision, that now updating is so easy using iGRID, that we will release more frequent incremental updates
These will include bug fixes, enhancements and improvements

General Discussion / Re: Garmin 496 and traffic data

Unfortunately there is no willingness on the part of Garmin to allow this
They use a proprietary protocol which is neither public, nor will they share

Technical Support / Re: What's in the 20230228 software release?
« on: March 16, 2023, 11:52:00 am »
Hi All

Actually most of the changes are enhancements with iGRID, SkyGRID
in particular you will notice there is now an Airfields option, as a menu screen, and map annotation
If an airfield has a weather station this will uplink data about wind direction, speed, QFE etc
A number of airfields are now installing these weather stations to accompany their ATOM station.

Also a lot of telematics have been introduced, particularly useful for users of iGRID, this feeds back data to us so that we can identify any issues, with the software - and of course notify you when new updates are available as noted on this thread !

Thx

Technical Support / Re: USB output messages and iGrid

Hi Russ
Did update make a difference, or have you not had chance to try
There were issues with the igrid dongle with the version you were using

I monitored the messages with and without igrid, and there was no effect

Thx

This sounds like a hardware fault
Are you able to connect an hdmi monitor/tv and see if any error messages are produced on boot

Hi Russ

I will see if I can reproduce what you are reporting.
can I ask what version you are running ?

Also can you let me have the exact settings configured for the flarm out

Thx
Lee
