GlobalSat BU-353S4 working great! Many thanks. It's SIRF lV.
Its showing remarkably accurate Altitude against known location height.
Thanks again.

They also fall apart inside the dongle. I had the same symptons and on splitting dongle found broken centre core connection from PCB to MX socket.
In fact all the soldering was grim with cracks in outer connection too.
New one on the way. In truth at the price they are its a cheap lesson to learn. Now ARF's and 5 Volts.......

Lee Hi!
All going well with my Pilot Aware and just about to add Pressure Module (not convinced its needed).
The last little challenge was USB-GPS. I connected a Global Sat BU-353S4 Module.
It draws 90mA, it has SIRF IV Chip Set.
In short it doesn't seem to join up with PA. I've attached a Configuration Page to see if error status means anything.
It's not a real worry as if its no good it will have another home.
If you could spare a quick look I'd be very happy.

Mystery solved.
It was Cessna 182 with ADS-B output. N681EW.
This aircraft is based at Lydeway.

Not sure that is me. Sounds daft but I cannot remember leaving it all on?
Maybe someone else there was using it.
Will check it out again with someone else local.

Yes some one will be about in area Not sure whether my ARF Unit is working but I will switch everything on.
I'm getting airborne from White Ox Mead, 4 miles SW of Bath around 10.30 local.
It's a short 20 minute flight to Lydeway for Village Fly in.
I'll be returning home around 16.30 and will be airborne for at least 30 minutes.
I can be contacted on 07808 402404.

A very naive question....so sorry.
What in PilotAware or SkyDemon terms 'colours' the ADS-B targets shown.
I ask as the 'white' outlined targets hide within the clutter of SD sometimes.

General Discussion / Re: Power Supply & USB Power Cable
« on: August 11, 2015, 10:28:06 pm »
Lee Hi!
As I fly a non-electrical vintage Aircraft power needs careful thought.
I'm using a 12000mAh Power Bank with 1 X 1A USB and 1 X 2.1A USB.
The charge life is excellent and means I can leave aircraft Aux battery (No charging) for Radio only.
A newer better value version is here:

I power the PilotAware set on 2.1A output using 50cm USB Cable..

It works well and all 'targets' matched Flight Radar 24.
