Title: External Antenna for P3i transmission
Post by: Ian Melville on May 29, 2016, 09:00:48 am
We already have a spare hole for an External Antenna on our group aircraft. Is there a recommended antenna that can be cut to the correct size?

Hi Ian

AHT will be selling a suitable extension cable to extend the reach.
Also antenna types of monopole, end-fed, and centre-fed dipoles

If your plane is metal, then you can use the monopole, the plane will act as ground plane,
Otherwise the end fed dipole

Thx
Lee

It rag and tube (PA17), but there is a sufficient large metal fairing that is big enough to act as the ground plane. The VHF works fine on the same position of the other wing root.

Most monopoles I have seen or have in the bits box are not suitable for external use I.e. won't handle water ingress.
