Hi Sean
Not seen that before, was there a gps lock at the time you got that strange radar view ?
Which gps do you have, is it the old classic one ?
Thx

I recall the main issue with using an anker for two devices, is when the second device is an iPad
When an iPad is flat it draws a lot of current to charge its battery AND run the electronics

The 4g dongles we have tested, draw upto 800ma
This is way too much for the usb ports
USB is only rated at 500ma
The combined draw of usb current will be too much

Please power the 4g dongle externally
Also if you are using a dual port power pack, remember that again, the max current is shared across those ports

Thx

Hi All

You said 4g dongle, do you really mean 4g dongle, or a wifi dongle connected to a cellular hotspot ?

I would have said a power issue, but that does not appear to be reported
The track file for the flight may give more information

Thx

For the avoidance of doubt

- if you find a bug, report it, we will fix it

- if you want an enhancement, report it (enhancements page) we will consider it

For enhancements, we are always looking at feasibility, ease of implementation, and how many likes get assigned in order to gauge how broad the request is from the community

We have limited resources, and must apply them where best applicable

Finally, lets keep positive- we surely don’t need another flyer forum  :o

The UDP data is unicast, not multicast

The address of 192.168.1.1 is hardcoded into skydemon

Have you tried delicately nipping the gps usb connector, in order to make it tighter

Rosetta sends UDP packets to its clients
If I understand correctly your ipad is a client of the router, not of rosetta
Therefore Rosetta does not send udp packets

You could try using skydemon FLARM connection method, this uses tcp instead

We do not share the password

Can I ask what you are trying to achieve

Technical Support / Re: iGrid no longer “going green”
« on: November 10, 2023, 09:10:49 pm »
An update on this. I think it’s ultimately working just the gsm data isn’t available as readily for whatever reason. Hence orange rather than green indication

Last flight it did ultimately connect but the data availability was patchy

I’ll keep an eye on it for any further clues of info

Thank you for the replies and feedback

can you share you flight/ICAO information. ?
The playback facility can be used to look at your cellular connectivity

Technical Support / Re: PAW via Bluetooth rather than Wifi
« on: November 10, 2023, 09:08:05 pm »
HOWEVER... from the S22 Ultra I cannot get to PAW and when I enter 192.168.1.1, or try to use PAW in Skydemon, it can't find it.
So does iGrid only work fully for iPhones????

This is not the problem is it ?

the S22 is acting as a hotspot, it knows nothing about the PilotAware hotspot as it is not connected to it.
However, PilotAware is connected to the S22 as a client with
wlan1=192.168.214.203

So I would have thought the S22 could access PilotAware using a web client connected to http://192.168.214.203
can you try this ?

Now Skydemon is a different matter.
SkyDemon can connect over TCP, BUT it is hardcoded to look for 192.168.1.1/2000 - which as already explained this IP does not appear on the network of the S22
SkyDemon can also listen to incoming UDP, BUT PilotAware will only send UDP messages to clients of its access point on 192.168.1.X

I think Ashley mentioned to you, we could potentially broadcast to the network we are connected as client (we do this with ATOM)
At the moment we are very busy polishing the software for Rosetta-FX, so this could be a future enhancement, but TBH, I have had nobody else ask for this feature

Thx

General Discussion / Re: Aircraft Flying Backwards
« on: November 10, 2023, 08:53:36 pm »
are you sure this is an SE ?
We used to see this on an old revision of the Funke firmware

Can you share the ICAO code / tail reg of the offending device please

Range of SE is pretty poor, that will be why he drops off.
With the ICAO we could look at his vector transmission pattern.

The fact that he appears track up on flight tracking apps, I think they are determining his track by successive position reports.
If his track is not being reported, it may be because his GPS is not reporting speed, which would generally mean that the track field would be ignored

Thx

I would caution against this approach unless you fully investigate the power requirements
We have had a number of issues with these 4g dongles drawing too much current and causing system brownouts

Thanks for pointing this out
The radar is undergoing a complete re-write at the moment, so this will be deprecated in the next release

That one is correct
