Title: Will sky demon or other nav software run directly on the RPI
Post by: Richard on June 21, 2016, 06:41:43 pm
Will any of the nav software run directly from the RPI SD card along side Pilotaware? If it will could you not simply add a RPI touchscreen to have a all in one nav and traffic unit. Sorry if it's a silly question. Has any one tried to install nav  software and got it to run on a PI or will not. I would try but don't have a screen.

None of the current products will run on Linux, hence cannot be run on the PAW.  If someone did write a Linux mapping software app, then the processor would most likely be overwhelmed. It would also need to be intergrated by Lee.

It could be possible to add a screen that shows targets relative to the PAW, like the Flarm displays, but that is not a mapping application, and not a one unit solution.

That's true Lee, forgot about that one. Not sure I like it as general Nav software though, a bit too specialist.
