Update April 11, 2019, 05:15:02 pm

Ok, so i got the new u-blox 8 from https://www.amazon.com/Stratux-GPYes-2-0-u-blox-unit/dp/B0716BK5NT.

This new dongle supports Galileo and SBAS. I now have twice the refresh rate and see double the amount of satellites! :o

Technical Support / Upgrading the Rosetta GNSS dongle

Hello,

Is it possible to upgrade the Rosetta USB dongle or will it cause stability issues?

The dongle that came with my Rosetta is Diymalls G28U7FUSB. I tried to do a google search on it but didn't find much http://51yhgou.com/item/index/iid/578098048902.html. However it seems that it only supports GPS and GLONASS with the Ublox- G7020 chip. https://www.u-blox.com/en/product/ubx-g7020-series

As i live in northern Europe Galileo and dual frequency support would be quite nice :)

Is it possible to upgrade the USB dongle with a M8030-KT chip (https://www.u-blox.com/en/product/ubx-m8030-series) and will it work with Rosetta?

maybe something like this https://www.aliexpress.com/item/TOPGNSS-USB-GPS-GLONASS-GALILEO-Receiver-module-antenna-GNSS100L-USB-GNSS-GPS-GLONASS-receiver-GMOUSE-Industrial/32952018577.html This have Galileo and supports WAAS, EGNOS, MSAS.

UPDATE April 02, 2019, 10:41:43 pm:
I have googled around for quite a while now. It seems that this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0716BK5NT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_ep_dp_Log2Bb0HWP1CM is the best update regarding GNSS for now.

That sounds great Keith!

I will consider the Trident later. I just bought the Rosetta and testing it out now ;)

Thanks.

I am a Ham radio amateur but i dont have the time right now to build one.

I think if somone could build a plug and play product then more people will host a station and the network would expand very quickly. I have no problem to pay a bit extra for the assemble:)

Thank you Peter.

I will take a closer look at the powerbank you mentioned :)

Sorry for the misunderstanding.
I was thinking about the Open Glider Network ground station.

Technical Support / Use of Anker powerbank to run PAW Rosetta

Hi,

Will this work as a UPS power backup for Rosetta?
https://www.anker.com/products/variant/powercore-slim-5000/A1250011

I know that Rosetta need 5v 2.1A. The powercore provide 5v 2.0A..  (0.1A difference)

The idea was connect the powercore slim 5000 to the cigarette plug in the cockpit and powering the Rosetta from the Powercore slim 5000.

Hello,

Is it possible to buy a 100% finished product? or is it someone that could build these transceivers and sell them?

Hello.

Is it possible to replace the supplied ADS-B usb dongle with the Flightaware Prostick plus.
http://Https://flightaware.com/adsb/prostick/

I asume the Prostick plus is better in reciving ADS-B data then a supplied STR RTL usb dongle? Or will it be a com/driver problem?
