Technical Support / Various Aircraft Identification Fields
« on: December 22, 2021, 11:46:04 am »
Hi All,
Just installed an ATOM station at EGAD  and we're confused as to  how/why  some information is missing from one particular aircraft!  What are the sources of the various  Reg-id, Flight-id, Tail no, Call sign fields as depicted in the picture.  Any help much appreciated. Are any of these synonyms? (Asking for a friend  ;D)

Thanks, Ray

Technical Support / Installing 20160820 - RESOLVED
« on: August 20, 2016, 08:51:03 pm »
From the Operations manual........
"To make software download easy in this instance or in normal use for that matter where an internet connection is not available, from software release 20160820, it is possible to upgrade the software via a pen drive memory stick. To do this you will need to download an upgrade file from the PilotAware.com website onto a Pen Drive memory stick. This will be a PilotAware.pgp file."

Sorry for being dumb but  can't find this file anywhere.... or is it contained  somewhere in the 20160820 zip or have I misunderstood completely?   :-\

General Discussion / Antenna Question?
« on: July 06, 2016, 11:07:59 am »
Apologies for lack of knowledge ....... but is this "puk" antenna, a dipole or monopole?

In other words does it need a ground plane? The datasheet isn't terribly clear.

Thanks, Ray

General Discussion / Traffic depicted as North up on Skydemon
« on: December 07, 2015, 06:19:27 pm »
Yesterday myself and a friend decided to test 2 ADS-B only PAW units, one in each of our aircraft. Both aircraft use FUNKE TRT800 (v5.2)  Xpdrs.
We picked each other up (one aircraft with using an iPhone 6, the other with an iPad2)  but the aircraft icon displayed  on our  respective SKYDEMONs showed as north up. As we flew  south this  showed each aircraft flying backwards ;D.  Locations and relative heights were spot on so is it possible that the velocity was not being transmitted via ADS-B?  Didn't get a chance to press on the icon to see more details (quite difficult to do in flight).  Could this be a problem with the Xpdr output?    Nearby commercial traffic icons seemed to be displaying correct bearing as evidenced by the direction of their aircraft icon.   Any ideas welcome please?

Thanks Ray
