General Discussion / Sharing a Pilot Aware unit

I have a half share in a Zenair 601XL based at Compton Abbas and have just bough a PAW for our aircraft.
Does my flying partner just have to ask for a licence with his own MAC address to use it?
Are there any plans to incorporate dual setups for PAW so that we don't have to reconfigure each time we change iPads when flying?

General Discussion / SOLVED! - Pilot Aware Ready Built Unit - licence fail

Hi,
I have just gone through the procedure sheet included with my PAW but on using with SkyDemon I get an error about connecting to butterfly unit.
I have checked the log file and it  reports a licence fail at B827EB4E63D4 which is the address shown on my WiFi connection.
I have checked endlessly that the above code and the licence code are correct making sure that there are only (0) shown and not (O).
I have no idea what to do next.
Any help appreciated.

General Discussion / DVB-T USB dongle getting very hot

While waiting for the final hardware to be agreed I thought I would see if my DVB-T module was OK.

I downloaded a programme called RTL1090 and was up and running quite soon and saw the occasional commercial flight south of Weymouth where I live.

When I came to unplug the DVB-T unit a couple of hours later I was surprised to find it almost too hot to hold.

I queried this with the eBay supplier who said this was normal.

Is he right? Do these units normally run hot  ?

General Discussion / Can I test half built?

I have bought the Rasberry Pi b+, formatted my sd card, bought a mini USB DVB-T receiver and a 802.11N wireless adapter.

I am holding off on the radio transmitter unit and the 3v regulator until the issues with the radio unit are resolved.

So, if I connect all this up can I try using the unit in just the receive mode, or does the software need to see the radio module to work?

General Discussion / Qustion from a Newbie about the IDC 40 pin connector

Hi all,

I have just ordered all the parts to make this excellent device which I will use with Skydemon when flying our Zenair 601XL from Compton Abbas.

Looking at the construction PDF the 40 pin IDC connector seems to only have four connections made to it so does it need to be a 40 pin connector?
