hi,
I've finally got round to putting my pilotaware together & have a couple of questions
from the home screen I can confirm that:
I'm using a 'Model B Pi 2 Kernel=4.1.19-v7+'
I can see 6 satellites
my licence is valid until 20180629
I have 2 problems which I don't know if they related or not:
the navigation, ADS-B and GPS sections show green, however, the TRX is red. so I assume that I'm not transmitting.
The home screen shows the following:
TRX (RXTX) Unavailable TX=0 RX=0 CRCFAIL=0
In the logging section I get the following messages:
TRX-SER : Fail, Baud = 0, Expecting 7 Retry
MAIN : Await Radio Startup
(repeated 10 times)
TRX-SER : Fail, Baud = 0, Expecting 7 Retry
etc etc
when I go into the config section I don't have any Mode C/S config options
I'm also using an Ipad power supply with a good quality power cable connecting them
any thoughts / suggestions?
many thanks
Richard

Hi Richard,
Is this a PAW Classic unit or a home build? Also which Software release is it running (Shown at top of Config page).?

Hi Richard,
I read your post late last night but my brain was too tired to think straight. Can you post a screenshot of your PilotAware Home and Configure Screens, so we can see exactly what is showing?
My first thoughts were that this was a homebuild, either Pi1B (which won't run Mode C/S), or with no 'Bridge' or your licence key is not properly entered or saved, but from your post, these all sound unlikely.
You say the home page is showing 6 satellites, but is it getting a good position fix? This can take quite a while first time out of the box. Without an accurate position fix the P3i transmitter won't run, as it would be sending incorrect position data. The Home screen will show this.
Finally, you say you are using an iPad power supply with a good quality cable. Is the power supply definitely rated at at least 2 amps, and is the cable the one supplied by PilotAware?
Regards
Peter

hi
sorry for taking some time to get back to you on this
it is a home build and it has both a bridge and a licence key that appears to be working ok - I've double checked the key
I've attached a screen shot of the home screen, the config page to follow

Hi Richard
There is a problem with the bridge, as you can see it says unavailable, and I presume is red
Can you show the logging page
Thx

hi logging page attached

Hi Richard,
There is a problem with communication between the RPi and the Bridge.
In your first posting you said
I've finally got round to putting my pilotaware together & have a couple of questions
You have had the bridge for over a year, so does that mean you have never had this working successfully in that time ?
Can you let me have a little history of your HomeBuild, so we can work out if the fault is the Bridge or the RPi.
Can I also ask you to confirm the Bridge is sat correctly on the RPi, It is possible to make the mistake of offsetting the GPIO pins by one row.
Thx

hi Lee
yes I'm sorry to say that it's been sat in the packaging for a long time since I ordered it - just never had the time to get round to putting it together. I've downloaded the s/w a couple of times but then got dragged away onto other things :-(
I've double checked the bridge in the RPi and it's sat correctly (by the way I'm an ex electronics engineer)

Richard,
Just check you have installed the bridge correctly, as it is easy to not get it over the pins correctly (I have dun this twice) with the same result you have got....

Richard
Will you be at the LAA rally
Thx
Lee

hi, sorry work keeping me too busy to look at this.
no sorry wasn't at the LAA rally

I've done a bit more work this evening and noticed that the two lights on the left hand side of the bridge (when viewed from the antenna end with the bridge on top) flash
the sequence is as follows
green

The pi
Please post the homepage
Thx

Hi Lee, as requested

Hi Richard
There is definitely a fault with this unit
Please contact Dave Styles at pilotawarehardware.com for a return
Thx

Will do, thanks
