Firstly. Your comments appear quite fractious but giving you the benefit of the doubt start by looking at:

Technical Support / Re: Audio out into typical GA headset

Alan
I fly an old single seat so the PAW Lady is my only company!
Hope you find a solution as the audible reporting of PAW is to me its most important feature.

This version to achieve what you want is a little basic but works.
There is no muting of any audio from PAW so it will burst through at any time.

You will need:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6-35mm-Plug-to-2x-Socket-Adapter-Guitar-Amp-Headphone-Male-Female-Splitter/371393836684?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
and
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B06XXQ3CD3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

You run PAW output using lead 3.5mm - 6.3mm. Plug 6.3mm Jack into the Splitter and then remove Headset plug (Tel.) and plug in Splitter. The Splitter then plugs into Tel' Socket.
Sorry for muddled explanation but it works well. REMEMBER. No Audio control. It will burst over other Audio.

Technical Support / Re: Drop outs on bumpy runways
« on: November 25, 2018, 06:24:27 pm »
I adopted PAW a while back but always suffered with 'drop out'. A lot was fixed with Software, especially WiFi protocol.
I still couldn't rely on solid PAW connection so adopted a rebuild of Case and connections.
The Unit is Tie wrapped to my old Aircrafts basic frame and most connections are via screwed PL/SK and USB power is braced by tie wrap on frame.
It is 100% solid now. I operate an old vibrating Continental engine, aircraft with open taildragger cockpit and on grass.
Power is supplied via Charge2 USB Power Box from LifePO4 7 Amp Hour. Have no electrical system for recharging.
Anyway the lesson is good power and security of connections.

It was a bit tongue in cheek! Thanks though Ian for technical appraisal.
Very happy with Audio on my PAW.

Spotted this on the Web. 3D Audio will allow Pilots to hear Alerts coming from the direction of the Threat. Perfect for PAW!

General Discussion / Re: 3.5mm to Microphone adapter cable?
« on: September 04, 2018, 11:24:26 am »
Abe
I used a 1/4" Twin adaptor and a 3.5mm Plug - Cable - 1/4" Plug. All Mono.
Headset calble into Twin Adapter, PAW Cable with 1/4" into Twin adaptor. Twin Adaptor into Aircraft Tel socket.
You will have no mute so PAW Audio's will be active as well as standard RT. Small price to pay and PAW messages short.
I use this arrangemnt as does another Airstrip user.
They can be purchased here.

It works fine! My Unit used an existing Bridge from RPi 2.
Use latest Software.

Lets take it point by point.

1/pilot aware will not identify gliders equipped with flarm. Not the fault of PAW. Unfortunately FLARM is fairly proprietary. If information was forthcoming from FLARM Company it would probably be a 'target' within the remit of PAW.
The OGN Network is so far a good attempt to share Glider positions without this direct FLARM interaction.

2/pilot aware will not identify ga aircraft with non adsb transponders. Incorrect.PAW will give an indication of a Mode C or S presence as an awareness target.

3/pilot aware will identify aircraft with p3i (subject to where you put the antenna). Not sure why the inference of antennae position so relevant. An aircraft with PAW will see and communicate with another so equipped.

4/pilot aware will identify aircraft with adsb transponders. Correct and very useful.

I can sometimes be very direct so I'll issue an apology now.
This is an Aid! NOT a TCAS or ADS Tx device or meant to reduce standard VFR tasks such as look out and visual scanning. The most useful part of PAW is the Audio output.
That allows you to retain the vital lookout tasks that as a VFR Pilot are the way we are meant to fly.
Please reconsider you negativity when next you fly.

Gerry

I've used one of these as an iPhone Speaker. iS a hardwire Audio. No Bluetooth.

Could do with your status page uploaded but in the meantime.
Have you set Altitude or Levels to maximum to ensure you can pick up just about anything.
Check what Software level you have.
ADS-B is very prominent on PA so its a little odd you have no traffic.

Technical Support / Re: Over heated WiFi Dongle causes PAW failure
« on: August 03, 2017, 07:25:37 am »
Is the WiFi Dongle positioned above ADS-B dongle in USB matrix? The ADS-B Dongle gets quite hot and may have influenced the damage externally and internally?
I have used a USB Male to USB Female short cable to move ADS-B Dongle away from RPi Unit.

Mr Cross
Can you send more information on the Pi Zero W? and how well it went. Looks great.
I have one sat on my bench and this would be a great App.
I'm guessing the onboard WiFi on the 'W' version is OK?

Gerry
