I have done several tests with 2 sets of hardware except the pi     I now have a fully working PilotAware which never drops out.
I went flying for 3 hr still all ok, tested at home for 9hrs still no drop out.
The problem i had was the wi-fi dongle, the other one was ok but kept dropping out randomly,  the one I had off Lee of which was slightly shorter
on the head never dropped out.
So Lee where did you get that one you sent me?
Oh by the way the one that drops out is from Ebay known good sources.

Lee tried it again today on the wi-fi dongle  that was dropping out and its seems ok, been on for 1 hr so don't know whats going on.
Update   there seams to be differences in the wi-fi dongles with the same chipsets but the one Lee sent me never drops out.
the one on ebay advertises the correct chipset but doesn't say in on the packet.

I had my wi-fi dongle fitted in far top right port and ADS-B in the bottom left  but the small mini ADS-B got very hot so i changed to the longer type
it now runs cool had it on for 5 hrs

Hi Lee
by gad mate i think ive cracked it.
You sent me a WI-FI dongle which i kept in case mine was crap, guess what after 10 minute i kept losing
connection so change everything in sequence it appears it be the wi-fi dongle bought from
ebay.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231483794170?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

this doesn't say on the packet what the chip set is, it's just advertised as the RT5370 but it defiantly is the reason.
Can you post me a link where you purchased yours from?

Many thanks Glenn

Hi Lee
Iam using collisionaware app

did a test at home this is what happened?
working ok, then after a bout 1/2 hr had this
The exact words are

''The connection to your GPS has been lost''

click ok it says

''Please wait while a connection is established to your external device''.

then it says

''Failed to establish a connection with the Butterfly connect unit''

software 1003
Collisionaware App latest version 0.3
USB power mains

Any idea? as this seems to be the only fault i have otherwise perfect

Hi Lee
Yes it says     Skydemon/Butterfly connect ?
using version 0926 but see you have released another update. of which i will try
Power supply is 12v to usb built in.
Wi-Fi dongle swapped for another same outcome.

I will try a USB power monkey back up to see if this helps.

Many thanks. Glenn
