Technical Support / Re: Ipad screen 'scrolling'
« on: September 25, 2020, 01:33:05 pm »
The actual problem is know as ipad 'ghost touching' commonly caused when the screen has been replaced with a third party screen, or not fitted correctly. Just a bit of a coincidence that I had two ipads doing the same thing but they had both had new screens fitted recently.

Well, I have to admit, it was an iPad issue! I was using the google map app in the car and the same thing started to happen, so nothing to do with the PA!! Sorry to have any of you scratching your heads!

Its a Rosetta about 15 months old installed on top of the panel in a C42 and only happens when I'm in the aircraft. It's a fairly old Ipad Mini but it normally runs Skydemon without any issues and I always do the SD updates as they become available. I thought it was the Ipad but I tried another unit and had the same problem. I wont be back at the field for another week but I will try and replicate the problem and send some screenshots. After flying for about half an hour I turned the Ipad back on in flight and it worked OK for the rest of the flight?
Thanks for your help so far.

Technical Support / Ipad screen 'scrolling'
« on: September 10, 2020, 10:14:50 am »
I have something very unusual going on with Skydemon my Ipad when connected to my PA Rosetta. For some reason the map screen just starts scrolling around the country, occasionally bringing up messages like as if I had held my finger on the screen. I thought it may have been a problem with the internal GPS so tried another Ipad, exactly the same. Connect to Skydemon on my iphone and everything working OK. I use the very expensive Harkwood Charge 2 power supply and have the latest firmware installed. Any ideas?

Technical Support / Re: A really weird one, PAW grabbed traffic and held it.

Hi Peter - thank you for your comprehensive reply. I do fly in the vicinity of Stansted Airport quite a lot so I am probably picking up some strong Bearing-less Mode-S alerts from Commercial Traffic like you have mentioned. Bearingless Target display in Sky Demon is set to ON but I probably could do with a bit of 'education' to check that everything else is configured correctly.

I had a similar thing happen yesterday, strangely enough while flying in a similar area. Pilot Aware was showing a target a couple of miles ahead on the same track and as I changed course, so did the target. Eventually it disappeared. I regularly receive warnings of traffic close by, either above, or below, and rarely see anything. I have switched off the 3D mode and configured everything to the shortest range possible but I have to admit, I  am also losing faith in the equipment. I really appreciate the efforts of everyone involved in its' development but so far I am yet to be convinced! I sent my transponder back to Trig so I could have the software updated to allow me to take advantage of ADSB which has now caused me a problem with the CAA, but that's another story!!

Has anyone tried something like one of these to power their PA?

3A 15W DC 12V To DC 5V Dual USB Power Charger Adapter Converter Module

Few of them advertised on Ebay/Amazon and providing they aren't c*** quality and can provide a stable, interference free supply, would it be an option?

Will existing users of PA receive email notification when Software update available? Personally, I’d prefer to receive updated SD card!

Technical Support / Transponder Cable

Any idea how I get around this little problem? Not enough room to plug my transponder cable into the USB slot on the Rosetta?

Technical Support / Re: Rosetta & Skydemon Aural alerts
« on: May 20, 2019, 11:55:41 am »
Thank's Paul for your reply and yes, now I've done a bit of forum searching I see the question has been raised before! I have a Funke radio with an audio input so I could connect the PAW directly with a 3.5mm cable and I also have a Lightspeed headset with an audio input on the battery box so I could connect SD directly into that. I have found the Bluetooth function on the headset a bit unreliable and it eats the batteries, so the cabled connection is preferable. Be interested to see how the BT function works on the next update.
Thanks

Technical Support / Rosetta & Skydemon Aural alerts
« on: May 20, 2019, 10:01:20 am »
Hi - just ordered my PAW and looking forward to receiving and setting up. Just a quick question, from what I understand, the audio alerts from the PAW are from a 3.5mm stereo jack which you can plug into your radio interface? However, I also have my SD audio alerts plugged into the radio interface. Is there any way of connecting both, or is it just one or the other?
I also want to connect my Trigg transponder to get the full benefits but the configuration looks a bit daunting, but I'm sure I'll work it out!
Any advice gratefully received.
