Sorry chaps IMHO all that bling is retrograde step.

Animation and flash type stuff just makes website a pain in the a**e.

You are not trying to sell overpriced cars to chavs.

New toy from China:

PAW P2 with bridge:

On boot it runs at about .45A climbing to a stable .65A.

Dongle only cost a fiver mind you.

A little update on the OGN -> FR24 feed. People may have noticed there are recently a lot less gliders and other FLARM traffic showing. What happened is FLARM effectively forced OGN to adopt an opt in process for display on OGN/FR24.   SO unless you are aware of the OGN process your FLARM will not be displayed. The FLARM argument was privacy. The fact that there is no opt in or out process for ADS-B doesn't seem to have deterred them.

Technical Support / Re: LED interrogation

Hi Bryce

Red / green constant flashing indicates no valid license, which is what you get on initial bootup
Subsequently a green indicates a working interface, a red indicates a failing interface
The same leds are shown on the web home page
Were you able to connect to the home page ?

Thx
Lee
Confused about all the LEDs. There seem to four on the Bridge.  As well as green my bridge is flashing a red LED to coincide with   PAW TX and I can hear the TX "crack" on my scanner.  Does this mean there is a still a failing interface?

As grist to the mill, this is what  Avidyne TAS does (by default):

When on the ground, other ground traffic is NOT displayed. Airborne traffic is displayed. No audio warnings while on the ground. I think TAS detects something as also on the ground by being the same FL.  A decent Mode S installation will show 25ft resolution but there are plenty around using old encoders so they will be 100ft.

TAS detects it is on the ground via a squat switch.  This could be replaced by GPS speed detection as has been suggested above.  A TB20 and a paramotor need different speeds so best have speed selectable.
Out of interest Garmin use a combination of speed and change in altitude to detect airborne.

I have seen no email to date. I was waiting for the end of the week flurry.

Should I have by now?

Have you selected FLARM and set the air connect key to 6000 in Skydemeon's connectivity options?

A useful thread.  I have just retrieved a serviceable wifi dongle from my dustbin  that I had assumed gone duff as its range had drastically reduced. Didn't know PAW was running Wifi at low power with latest SW.

General Discussion / Re: PAW audio interface to (radio) intercom
« on: May 21, 2016, 12:26:55 pm »
A few years ago we made up an inline headphone jack/socket cable with a mini jack cable for our TB20. That sent terrain warnings from a Garmin Aera to the pilot's headset.   cable plugged into panel and Aera. Headset phone jack plugged into the cable socket

I think they are still using it today and of course quite legal in CofA aircraft.  That would work with a tablet (or PAW).

ediited to add:

Or you can just buy one nowadays.. at a price.

Ours was a lot neater :)

I've made a suggestion in the 'enhancements' thread that might help.

Not sure how feasible it would be but an alternative/addition to using the PI jack for traffic warnings might be to send them over Wifi to the tablet. The tablet then announces all the warnings.

Play store already appears to have a free app to do this.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vnd.wifiaudio&hl=en

Cooperation from Skydemon etc would of course mean no need for a second app.

I have one of these and they are excellent.

Note they have a small free floating disk magnet size of a 1/2p underneath the foil  base.

I cut mine out with a Stanley knife to avoid compass deviation.
