No Mode-C/S Separation, Detect and Select
« on: September 25, 2016, 07:46:22 pm »
Halo,

I am very interested on Pilotaware. I find its a very good project and i am very happy, when it works.

I have a Raspberry Pi 2 B, the GPS U-Box7 and a DVB-T Receiver connected.
I can see the airplanes on my XCSoar and Skymap.
PilotAware Version (20160820)
Test 30 day License

I have problems with "configure" site.
My problem is, I can´t see on menu "configure" this:
- Mode C/S Separation
- Mode C/S Detect
- Mode C/S Select
- Volume (for warnings)

I don´t understand, why i can´t see it in the menu.
Can you help me?

Thanks

Michael

Hi Michael
Do you have a Bridge installed?

Hi Michael,

Yes....., unfortunately without the Bridge you will not get access to Mode C/S or the audio alerts. This decision was taken some time ago to stop people simply building 'basic' PilotAware's and using them as 'cheap' ADSB receivers, when the over-riding principle of the system is to provide inexpensive 'See, Be Seen and Avoid' to all aviators, especially those who cant afford - or for technical reasons simply can't fit a high power 1090MHz transponder or ADSB out system.

Also, you are currently operating on a 30 day 'Trial' License. The Full Licence comes with the Bridge, so without a Bridge you have no way of extending your operating period beyond your trial period licence.

Bridges are readily available through the PilotAware website www.pilotaware.com

Best Regards

Please visit the new pilotaware.com website. In the download section there is a download "Known Good hardware" this will direct you to what is required to build your own and where to get a bridge.

Doing it yourself is not necessarily cheaper but fun if you like building electronics yourself and have some of the bits already

Cheers
