Password not working?
« on: August 21, 2016, 10:39:10 am »
Have latest download working on my unit.

Working O.K.

Decided to use password facility on WiFi.

Inserted password.

No longer able to connect???

I can not have forgotten the password in 5 minutes.

Anyone else had this problem before I use the manual update to reset the system??

was your password more than 8 characters
it should not have been accepted if less than 8

Also if you can connect your PilotAware onto your home router, using an RJ45 cable
you can connect through the wired interface.

the IP address will either be
192.168.0.100, if your subnet is 192.168.0.xxx
so connect to http://192.168.0.100

or allocated by your router - in which case you will need to look at your router settings

O.K. Connected directly to router.

Looked at WiFi password. It was correct.

Deleted WiFi password, System works correctly, able to connect via WiFi Tablet.

Re enter password.

Unable to connect via WiFi Tablet??

No idea what I am doing wrong. The password is 9 characters mixture of lowercase letters and numbers?

hmmm, I wonder if something is missing when it is an upgrade, not a full install.
Could you also try a simple password of
12345678

I will see if it is related to an upgrade, rather than full install

By the way, what type is your tablet ?

Thx

I tried the following, using an Ipad Mini

upgraded from 20160530 to 20160820

set password to 'asdf12345'
pressed restart

browsed for wifi, entered 'asdf12345' and pressed join

connected successfully

Thank you for the replies.

I have tried a password with just 9 letters. Will not connect.

Remove password. Connects.

I have tried a password with just 9 numbers. Will not connect.

Remove password. Connects.

I am using a Hudle with XCSoar.

The Software was updated by connecting to Router, powering up and leaving for half an hour.

The using the install button to install the software.

Just as an acid test, could you try connecting wirelessly from another device ?
I have had success with
  • iPad
  • iPhone
  • Windows PC

could be a Hudle issue ?

is this a PilotAware Classic, or homebuild, and if a homebuild is it a Pi2B or PiB+ ?

It is home built, i.e plugged together, new Pi 2B and new classic bridge. With all the approved dongles.

Unit is working fine, without password.

I will leave it without the password for now.

The unit has been running for approximately 4 hours, with several stops and starts to try to get password working, and is running low on power.

Thank you for your assistance, will be back in a day or so when units recharged and i have some more time to play.

P.S. Can you put a note in the manual to say password can be recovered or altered by direct connection to router.

I had a similar problem.....when you enter the password in the field just press the return key, go to home page then back to wifi page and see if it has remembered the password field...If you press restart at the bottom of the wifi page without pressing enter after password entry, the field reverts to blank......Just a thought !!

They didn't to begin with.....my bad....I wasn't pressing the enter after entering the password.....I kept pressing restart......then realised it wasn't saving when entering the details via Safari on my iPad......all works perfectly now......I tried a download update via the router which worked but then decided to back that up with a full re-install via the zip file as you mentioned some core code changes to the USB function that might not work via the update

I had similar issues with the password not 'saving'. Perhaps there needs to be a <save> button on the page and the restart to then make the settings active.

flew with the new config yesterday and it appeared stable enough.
