Hi Doc,

Likewise for Scotland / northern Engerland (or anywhere else for that matter). Only too happy to help. Just get in touch.

Regards to all our 'Newbies' - not so long ago I was one of you and can't stop smiling when I realise how far I've come /  how much I've learned in such a short time.

Best regards

Peter R

Mods--  if anyone has the time, is it worth putting a table together listing development / experienced users who are willing to help others, their location, and their username on here to PM if anyone needs help with assembly, setup, or troubleshooting?  (you could add a column for the cost as well, vanilla latte for me!)

This might help get the less technically minded user off the ground faster, reduce user frustration, reduce time input from the development team, and don't forget it benefits everyone. The more PAW users we attract or look after, the safer we all are theoretically!!

Not working.   :(  Have got as far as plugging in power and the Pi doesn't appear to be starting.  Instead of getting alternating red/green lights they're both permanently on.  Also lacking the 4 screws to hold the Pi together; I'm sure I can get over that!  Ideas on the startup would be appreciated though.

Dave if it was me I would plug in an HDMI cable in the port on the Pi so it can display the boot sentences on the TV screen - if any. That would give you something on progress assuming the Pi is getting that far.

I would also unplug the USB bits and see if the PI boots on its own.

Might be also something silly like the power pack not giving enough juice out.

Others may have alternate suggestions.

Hi David,

As Alan says, what is your power source ?
How long did you leave it before determining it was not booting correctly, the boot sequence should be les than 1 minute,
so if nothing is happening after that - there is an issue

Power source is 5V 2.4amp supply from mains (i.e. not battery).  I've left the device powered for at least 5 minutes and the LEDs remain constantly lit.  Reading Raspberry's forum the implication is that steady red and green LEDs indicate power ok but not booting due to SD card error.

From what you describe, it does sound like a real H/W problem.
I have asked Dave Styles from AHT to comment.

Thx

I've tried to read the SD card on my laptop; the computer doesn't even see the card.  Having closely examined the card it appears to be physically damaged (bottom right corner of card).
