But what is the significance of the navigation field where it says "disconnected"

This indicates whether any navigation devices are connected to PilotAware.
So this is telling me that RunwayHD has not connected.
When a device connects this will change to 'Enabled'

Alternately if you connect safari to http://192.168.1.1:2000 PilotAware thinks this is a NAV device, and will also display 'Enabled'

Am pleased to say now that with 4 separate on/off trials over the last week or so , provided I power up in the right sequence the system works.

So I power up the PAW first then once the green LED flashes consistently I start the Ipad then Runway HD and immediately it shows traffic. So next hurdle is to plug it into the D type tail on the txpdr and see if the Ext Squit works.
