ARF transmission with 20151219
« on: December 21, 2015, 02:28:14 pm »
I'm not getting any indication that the PilotAware is broadcasting on my airband scanner with the latest version, swap back to an SD card with an old version (20151107) and I get a nice strong blip  every 2 seconds as usual. PilotAware and scanner in bay window for testing as always, home page reports TRX (RXTX) Enabled TX=339 RX=0 CRCFAIL=0 as normal, if I adjust the squelch on the scanner to hear the static I can just about pick out a blip but it is very weak, certainly not enough for the scanner's squelch to distinguish from background.

I know there will be a new ARF board along shortly, could this anything to do with using the original one?

Internally I am no longer testing the ARF, although the code still exists.
it just so happens that in the last release the code to initialise the ARF was commented out.
This was simply to speed initialisation of the new shield.

I think it is fair to say that the ARF is really dead as far as PilotAware is concerned - is there a reason why you want to still see this running ?

Thx

Not really Lee - I've simply been using it as a way of checking the new version was up and running. Start with a freshly formatted card, copy the files on to it, put it in the PilotAware, plug it in and turn on the scanner. When I heard the blip blip after 10 minutes or so I knew it had done all the card partitioning, formatting and installation thing, WiFi was up and running, GPS locked and I could then connect to it with SkyDemon. Just suprised when it didn't do what I was used to, yet still worked with an old card.

Looking forward to the new board whenever it arrives.

thanks

My two ARF systems are still working well with the latest version of PAW. Looking forward to the new version. if it's better than my current set up I will be delighted Thanks Lee for all your hardwork on making PAW so good.
