PilotAware display on two devices.
« on: November 14, 2015, 12:11:59 pm »
I have uploaded the latest software.

Can not find the reference now but the email suggested that you could see the PilotAware output on more than one device?

Works O.K. on iPhone with Runway HD.
Works O.K. on Huddle with XCSoar.

But not on both devices at the same time?

I have the USB dongle fitted and working.

Have I misunderstood the content of the email or do I need to change some settings somewhere?

I am pretty certain this got into the 20151107 release, let me check
Thx
Lee

Update, looking at the CHANGELOG, it is certainly supposed to be in this version.
Can i confirm you can connect both independantly, but not concurrently ?

I am sure somebody on the forum successfully managed to use this feature, I will run up the specific version myself and check

Hello Lee,

I had the pilot Aware displaying on my iPhone O.k.

Switched on the Hudle, started running XCSoar, nothing showing.

Switched off the iPhone, Hudle started to display traffic.

Switched iPhone back on, NO FLARM DATA.

I will not be using both devices when flying but was interested in the different displays.

I was assuming that I might need to alter some settings.

Hi Bob

Can I confirm your version is 20151107 ?

I think I ran RunwayHD and SkyDemon concurrently, but you have me doubting myself that it was using my engineering code, not the released code, I need to go back and verify

Thx
Lee

I'm successfully running:
Skydemon on a Nexus 7 2013, Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) and
XCSoarTE on a Galaxy Tab 10.1 with Android 4.1.2 rooted, running concurrently.
Tablets are using their own GPS with Android Collision Aware
Using  20151107 on PAW

Really struggling today, Over an hour and unit still not working.

3 attempts so far to download new software.
Had "Dos" error think that is due to picking wrong option when formatting SD card, there is a thread somewhere about that.
Now the PilotAware will not start at all, Power switches off after a few seconds, think there is another thread discussing that problem.

So. Remove SD card. Reformat Full OverWrite. Format size adjustment ON.

Extract 39 Items = 15 files and copy on to SD  card.

Put SD card in PilotAware and try again!

Downloaded wrong version yesterday with no problems!

O.K. Finally got both devices working.

The display on the iPhone with Runway HD is stable.

The display on the Hudle with XCSoar is jumping about has though the aircraft is doing aerobatics?

The PilotAware unit is stationary in the window.

Not a problem with the PilotAware unit.

Need to try in the car or flying i.e. with the unit moving.

Hi Bob

Are you supplying PAW with more than one GPS source by any chance, eg usb/gps and collisionaware, this may explain the aerobatics ?

Thx

My XCSoarTE aircraft symbol would rotate if the GPS signal was weak (I assume it was because I was further inside the house and more shielded from satellites), I checked the GPS reception using GPS Status app, when I had > 6 satellites it was stable.

Yes, I previously reported it was working on two Android tablets running Sky Demon and/or XC Soar.

As for rotating aircraft, yes, if the GPS is stationary, it'll wander about by small amounts, and the direction it wanders in is the directions the aeroplane will face. I find the UBlox wanders like some of the old GPSs did, perhaps before SA was switched off!

Hello Lee.

No only the GPS Dongle.

XCSoar display can be either Track Up or North Up.

Change it to North Up and the display is now stable.

If I get a chance to fly  I will set it to Track up. That should be O.K. in a  moving aircraft.

Bob.
