Opening the Rosetta Case
« on: July 03, 2019, 10:49:56 pm »
Because I’m always moving between club aircraft I’d mounted my Rosetta onto the RAM mount that holds my phone with some Velcro.
All very good, but it leaves the USB-C plug pressing against the window and it looks like I’ve damaged the connector over time. At the moment, if I waggle the plug the PAW will shut off which is certainly not ideal as it’s been happening in flight too.
It looks like I’ll need to replace the connector but I can’t see how the main Rosetta case comes apart to get at the Pi? I don’t want to snap anything so thought I’d ask on here.
Thanks

Ian Melville

The same case as the Rosetta, just a  different colour. You may need to slit the label as early Rosettas were not shipped with it slit. Push down where my finger is.

Part 2
Push with thumbs on both circles. only one hand shown because I'm holding the phone with the other  ;)
Note the radio PCB will be attached to the top and to the Pi. You will need to wiggle it off once the nuts are undone.

Will void warranty  :)

BTW I think you mean Micro-USB connector. I wish it was USB-C, a much better connector.

Ah ha! That is exactly what I needed, thank you!!

Although I’ll admit I initially hadn’t noticed I wasn’t logged in so your reply looked very strange (guests can’t see pictures)!

Good call on the micro USB too, hopefully I’d have noticed before ordering the bits.
