Non moving detected aircraft on skydemon
« on: August 06, 2019, 11:53:34 am »
Hi,
Just joined the forum so “hello” to everyone, not long started using mode 3D, took a passenger for extra eyes for any extra reports, using iPad mini and skydemon flew from Wickenby to Northmoor, got a few alerts but not a lot of visual aircraft on screen etc, extra eyes keeping good look out so no real issues on flight, when I played flight back on skydemon later and expanded screen to see if I could see any aircraft I was surprised to see a cluster of aircraft shadowing me on my flight showing FF and various numbers as id but not moving in any direction or flying so to speak, I didn’t turn paw off so they were still there on my return flight, has anyone any ideas why this happened, on aircrew it reports bearingless but no aircraft in view like the SD playback,

Thanks
Chris

But the aircraft was "not moving", or was itmoving at the same speed and maintening the same distance from you?

Did think of that but I’m in a flexwing not moving that fast, bit of a coincidence that they they all flew with me at same time then hung around and followed me home again never going anywhere else!

Did you disconnect the ADSB antenna?
What exactly did you play back? SD or PAW?

You should play PAW  track from the tracks web page in PAW and put SD in flight mode(Go Flying)

Either way if you do not disconnect the antenna you will get a mix of playback and live traffic. It may include static aircraft near to you.

Cheers

Ok, I did playback through paw track to SD (go flying) but didn’t disconnect ariel so you’ve probably just answered my question, I’ll play it again and see what shows up etc thanks for your help,

Hi Chris,

Two other settings to check in PilotAware / Configure.

1. That you have correctly entered your own aircraft’s ICAO Hex Code (the default is based on the PAW MAC Code).

2. If you have a transponder, that you have Mode CS Select set to ‘Mode CS + Filter’ (and that it also has the correct Hex ID for your Aircraft).

Let us know how you get on.

Best Regards

Thanks Peter,
I’ll check my Hex code etc, I’ve no transponder fitted so that’s not an issue, just to be clear with the antennas, I just unscrew them then power up as normal for my track playback through SD,
