Hi Eric

With Linux, the password does not show when you type, not even the asterix markers that you would see in windows.
Just type in your password exactly as you saved it, being mindful of capitalisation in the correct places, or if it is a full new version on a new card then the password will be 12345678 and you are advised to change this on the first run of the configuration file.  When you type it in you will not see anything happen until you hit enter.  If you got the password correct it will let you in, if not it will spit back at you and tell you it was "incorrect login"

This Linux is a huge learning curve for me too, not helped bu aged brain cells.

Alan

Thanks a million for the info.
The previous upload worked fine using 192.168.1.4:4200

I think I an not connected to my router. The numbers above do not work.

Hi Eric

It's very possible that your router can change the IP address of your devices especially if you have turned off your router overnight or it has rebooted for any reason.  You should be able to go into your router settings and see a list of all of your connected devices and see what IP address has been allocated to your Raspberry Pi.
It may be possible to define the IP address for your Pi so that this does not happen if turned off or rebooted but depends on your provider and the specific router you use.

Eric are you setting this up using a keyboard and monitor or using the "Shell in a Box" via your web browser?

From the port number (4200) after the IP address it looks like he's using 'Shell in a box'

As has been mentioned, the address your router has assigned to your Pi has probably changed

If you can, log into your router and check the Devices page (difficult to describe exact name without more details on the router) and see if you can spot the Pi, either by it's name or is a list of MAC addresses is show, the one starting with B827 …..

There are a number of useful IP scanners you can get for free too - running one of these on your PC will list the devices is can find on your network (IP address, name, MAC address etc etc) -- handy if you're not sure where to look in your router..

Here's one I've used in the past ..  http://www.advanced-ip-scanner.com/index2.php?utm_expid=62919999-71.OuJ_66t8Q8SCz9BIvLvQ6g.1

Hi guys,

I talked Eric through the setup over the phone last Wednesday. He is using a keyboard and monitor direct onto the Pi. 192.168.1.4:4200 let him into the pi, then we ran ./PilotAware-OGN.config.sh (with a couple of minor hiccups) resetting the password to ’stationname1’ (all lower case).

Eric,

If you have reloaded the software again you need to start again with

Login: pi
Password: 12345678

If not, and you just want to re-run the config, you need to use

Login: pi
Password: (station name 1 - all lowercase)

I have very intermittent internet out here in South America, but will try to check back later.

Best Regards

Peter

Hi Eric

Let us know how you get on.  The OGN-R station should show as "ognpaw" on the IP scanner.  I've just tried it on my own network.  If it has changed its IP address please let us know the name of your broadband provider and if possible the name of your router and maybe we can find out how to set it to assign a known IP address to the station.

After further attempts today have discovered that I am still unable to connect to the OGN server.
I guess this has been the case why Peter has had to assist me in the past.
Has anybody got any ideas?
Thanks for all your help up to now.

Hi Eric,
Lets try and understand the terminology here, you say
Quote
I am still unable to connect to the OGN server.
Do you really mean this ?
What this says is that your OGN-R ground station is unable to connect via the internet to the central OGN server

Please let me know if this is the case, or whether, from earlier postings the issue is
'logging into the OGN-R'

Thx
Lee
